The two sides of online purchases

in CLEAN PLANET2 months ago (edited)

Thanks to @nwothini335 for this weekly prompt and to technology, the world at large is moving at a great pace; new things are being developed every day, which has its pros and cons. Part of the great development of technology is the opportunity to sit in the comfort of one's house and order whatever one desires online. This is great, yes I agree but as great and convenient as it may seem, some are taking undue advantage of this to defraud others.

One of the disadvantages of purchasing goods online is the non-refundable of the capital. If a good is purchased online and it wasn't what one desired or ordered, there are no means of refunding the capital used in purchasing, and likewise, the goods cannot be returned. Most times, I prefer physical shopping, going directly to a walk-in shop to buy whatever it is I need to order online to avoid stories that touch the heart. Money is not easy to come by these days so rather than wasting the one I have, I will spend it wisely then, there are times when I see things I desire online and after looking for them offline, I might not be able to find them leaving me with no choice than to patronize the online vendor.

I sometimes had an experience with the phrase, "What I ordered versus what I got and it wasn't a palatable one. I saw a handbag online, and it's beautiful; as a lady, I desire to purchase it, and I ordered it. In the picture, what I saw was bigger and more spacious than what was delivered to me. When I got the package, I was furious because to me it was not worth the money I paid for it and then it wasn't what I wanted. That got me, and when I asked the seller the difference between what I ordered and what was delivered to me, I was told that was the size of the bag and not what I thought, and this was the person I asked severally who confirmed it was a big bag.

I wasn't pleased with this, and it got me discouraged from purchasing online; it is one of my bad purchases, but then it can't always be bad. Recently, my younger brothers asked me to get them a new PS3. Their Xbox had been giving them issues, and they desired a new one, which then I had to plan for in order not to waste capital. I searched online, and I contacted the vendor; while contemplating whether to go for it or not, I made up my mind, and I paid for it to be delivered. It was delivered, and I was happy with what I got; it's working perfectly.

There are times when it won't go as planned, but it's not always bad; I was dissatisfied with the bag I ordered but satisfied with the PS3. Online purchases are not so bad, but they require discretion just to be on the safer side.
