February 14th is Valentines Day. It is a day set aside annually to remember St. Velentine, who lived a selfless life and was executed for it.
Today, in our society, it is a day for people to celebrate love. This love celebration can be among people who are romantically involved, family, and friends.
It is marked with sending of romantic messages, gifts of card, flowers etc.

There are so many stories of St. Valentine, but all of them point at the fact that Valentine" lived a beautiful and selfless life, which he used to tauch many lives at the expense of his own life.
For the purposes of this post, i will write on the most populous account.

Etymologicaly, Valentine's Day originated from a Catholic priest of the 3rd century. There are lots of good stories told about this priest of God, about how he lived a selfless life showing love and care to other people who needed love and care. These stories were what birthed Valentine's Day we all celebrate in the present.

How Valentine started distinguishing himself for love.

Around that time, Valentine lived (3rd century). Many Romans concerted to Christianity, but the then emperor (Emperor cloudus II) was a pegan. He had created very strict rules for Christians to punish them.

Emperor cloudud II also made a decleration that all roman soldiers should not marry. According to him, they should dedicate all their life serving the state.
But velentine been a priest of the church, and someone who believes in love continued to marry soldiers and their partners secretly.

Along the line, his cover was blown, and he was cought and jailed because of his offence against emperor cloudus. While in jail, he continued to assist his fellow inmates, including the blind daughter of emperor cloudus that jailled him. Before his execution on 14th February 270, he wrote a latter to the daughter of cloudus and ended it with Yours Valentines.

Why we celebrate February 14th as Valentine's Day.

About 200 years later, the Catholic church had taken over the Roman empire. They pronounced Valentine a saint and stamped that he is celebrated every 14th February.

This is a brief history of how Valentine's Day originated.

I will never express my love in one day, so I am not in favor of February 14th.I love my family and loved ones every day of the year. However, your work in cleaning the planet is commendable.

You are absolutely correct.
Everyday should be a Valentine's day as we are expected to love in and out of the season.
