Hello friends how are you all today, this my first time writing in this community and I would be sharing my experience on the farm.
While at my grandma's I visited her farm to harvest some Cassavas to be used for garri processing and also Cassava slices.
I was introduced to a unique way of harvesting them unlike the usual pull out method,my aunt explained to me that we would have to put back the Cassava stems back to the ground later to be harvested and cut to be replanted during the farming seasons.
During the next farm season or as soon as the rain drops a complete or total harvesting would take place.
Why that mode of harvesting is used is because of the ground thoughness because of lackbof rain for a while harvesting the Cassava tubers would be difficult causing breakage while pulling out.
We harvested quite a large number of Cassava tubers ranging from really big ones to small ones and slim and all kinds of tubers.
We were able to harvest up to 2 bags full of Cassava tubers which was processed to be used as garri and also Cassava slices which go really well with groundnut or coconut.
It was a really nice day at the farm and i would say it was a nice experience 😊.
