Hello everyone,
I am super excited and happy to share with you guys that my cowpea plant is now producing its fruit. This plant is very common here in Nigeria we use it in making soup as a thinner. As month have passed away I got the real pleasure of watching my cowpea growing and evolving, and seeing the fruits of my work at last.
I remember a day I placed cowpea seeds in the soil hoping for the best to happen to them. During that time it was dry so I had to keep watering it daily at the end of the dry season now the cowpea pods are sprouting denoting the onset of the harvest season.
To grow this crop, one must have a lot of commitment, time and effort in order to succeed in the process. Right from light management, watering regime, pest control and disease management, it is all about the right steps. The fact that the pods of cowpea develop beans that are soft is the result of a good nurturing.
Cowpeas are commonly consumed legumes, commonly known as white beans, that are packed with proteins, fiber and minerals. Ideal to enrich soups or salads, and many other dishes, this product is perfect for fulfilling your daily need in salt. Therefore, with my homegrown cowpeas, I expect to prepare some soup and just taste what I have been sowing all this time.
