You know, I have seen cherry tomatoes on TV, in movies, in magazines and get so fascinated about such pretty tiny veggie. But when I started to grow my own, it became something unexpected.
As usual, that day I picked the overripe tomatoes in the fridge and put them in a bucket filled with soil instead of throwing them away. I often opt to grow vegetables that way when I don’t have much time for gardening. About a couple of weeks later, I started to see germinated seeds emerging out of the thick soil and then my cherry tomato trees simply grew up like other tomatoes in this world.
But there remained only one after days of harsh sunlight and it was not until around a months after that I realized that that tomato tree turned out to be something unusual. Its stem expanded into many up-to 2-meter-long branches sprawling over the big square pot.
Day by day, it became uncontrollable and overall looked like a messy bush. It seemed that nothing could stop it from growing wildly. You can take a look at the image and tell me know if you are shocked as much as I was, lol. Honestly, it was not like any tomato tree that I had seen in my entire life.
Such a single-cherry tomato tree did not let me down. There were countless fruits on the delicate branches. It was so productive that it yielded fruits on a daily basis.
I still recall how excited I was in that two months to visit my garden every morning and pick many little red ones. I ate a lot of them right in the garden even when I had yet to have anything in my stomach for breakfast.
Having such a unique tomato tree made me believe that we don’t always need to be to a standard, we can be special instead. :)))
Ahhh rooftop garden, escapists' dream of urban life
