Yesterday I had an exam on Numerical Analysis. It is very important subject in mathematics having its application in solving governing equation, scaffolding analysis, hydrodynamics and aerodynamics, pollutant movement etc. In modern computer science, there are the largest use of numerical analysis. Before inventing modern computer, man have to depend on large data table to solve any problem with the help of numerical analysis. Anyway, as numerical analysis has a big use in science, so we must study in our honours course. Though we have not study about all sector of numerical analysis, it is still the biggest course in part-3. We have to study some specific use of numerical analysis in part-3. Such as
Finding out the roots of algebric and trancendental function using different method such as iteration method, Newton-Raphson method, bisection method, false position method etc. We have to test it for both implicit and explicit function.
We have big syllabus about interpolation and extrapolation and have to study about Newton, Lagrange, Bessel, Stirling, Gauss etc interpolation and extralopolation formula.
- we also have to study of curve fitting, solution of linear and non-linear system of equation, numerical integration and differenttiation, numerical sution of ordinary differential equation and numerical solution of partial differential equation and so on.
There many suggested books to take help whike studying about numerical analysis. But I basically follows the books "Elements of Numerical Analysis" written by P. Henrici and "Numerical Analysis" written by Burden and Faires.
I like to study about numerical analysis but have to fight against numerical solution of partial differential equation. This issue is too complicated. Anyway my exam on this course was very well yesterday. I have three more exam in hand. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.
