[ EN | PT ] Nefarious: a really disturbing movie | Nefarious: um filme realmente perturbador

I watched the movie Nefarious today, and, really, I didn't expect so much. I'm used to watching horror movies, but I never thought that a low-budget movie would cause me the same sensations as a high-budget movie decades ago, when I was still struck by this type of movie. But I was really wrong, and I have to give up.

Nefarious is not a film about an exorcism, nor is it a horror film, but basically an intimate conversation with the figure of the devil, with the figure constructed in his religious life, and it clashes with several things that you may or may not to believe. There are scenes where you will question your values, and scenes where your own way of thinking and living will be tested.

But, above all, I see that there are lessons we can learn from this film even if we don't believe in God, the Devil, hell or anything like that, such as, for example, assessing the consequences of your actions so that you have no regrets, or even not putting yourself in situations where you will be forced to do things that go against your moral and ethical principles. How many times every day are you forced to lie or deceive people? Or how about that bill that you don't want to pay not because you don't have money but because you think they'll forget? Or even when you do something wrong at work but have a chance to blame someone else to pay for you? Even if you're an atheist, it's always good to avoid putting yourself in situations where you know you might end up acting morally and ethically wrong, after all, it costs nothing.

Of course, there are things in the film that you might disagree with in some way or some aspect, but, as with other films, you have to understand that it is a work of fiction, and as such, it will certainly be deeply influenced by the worldview of the producers. Also, it's a low-budget movie, so don't expect great special effects or something worthy of being compared to a work by Steven Spielberg or Christopher Nolan, quite the contrary, it's a thriller that tries to extract the best from the few resources to give the best possible result.

Assisti hoje o filme Nefarious, e, realmente, eu não esperava tanto. Eu estou acostumado a assistir filmes de terror, mas nunca pensei que um filme de baixo orçamento me causaria as mesmas sensações de um filme de alto orçamento de décadas atrás, quando eu ainda me atingia por esse tipo de filme. Mas eu realmente estava enganado, e tenho que dar o braço a torcer.

Nefarious não é um filme sobre um exorcismo, tampouco um filme de terror, mas, basicamente uma conversa íntima com a figura do diabo, com a figura construída em sua vida religiosa, e bate de frente com várias coisas que você pode ou não acreditar. Tem cenas em que você questionará seus valores, e cenas onde seu próprio modo de pensar e de viver será posto a prova.

Mas, acima de tudo, vejo que existem lições que podemos tirar desse filme mesmo que não acreditemos em Deus, Diabo, inferno ou qualquer outra coisa do tipo, como, por exemplo, avaliar as consequências de suas ações para que não tenha arrependimentos, ou mesmo não se colocar em situações onde você se verá forçado a fazer coisas que vão contra seus princípios morais e éticos. Quantas vezes todos os dias você é forçado a mentir ou enganar as pessoas? Ou que tal aquela conta que você não quer pagar não por não ter dinheiro mas sim porque acha que vão esquecer? Ou mesmo quando você faz algo errado no trabalho mas tem a chance de culpar outra pessoa para pagar por você? Mesmo que você seja ateu, é sempre bom evitar se colocar em situações onde você sabe que pode acabar agindo de forma moral e eticamente errada, afinal, não custa nada.

Claro que existem coisas no filme que você pode discordar de alguma forma ou em algum aspecto, mas, assim como em outros filmes, você tem que entender que é uma obra de ficção, e, como tal, certamente será profundamente influenciada pela visão de mundo dos produtores. Além disso, é um filme de baixo orçamento, então não espere grandes efeitos especiais ou algo digno de ser comparado a uma obra de Steven Spielberg ou Cristopher Nolan, muito pelo contrário, é uma obra de suspense que tenta extrair o melhor dos poucos recursos que possui dando o melhor resultado possível.
