RE: Tips on how to Avoid Favoritism at Work

This is an interesting topic. Can't favoritism be good if it is earned? For instance, if I have a worker who I know is dependable, and I have another who is less dependable, won't it make sense for me to favor the better worker? I know I will compensate one better than the other, which is a form of favoritism, but based upon merit. I favor their actions over another, so I give them more. I'm not such a huge fan of nepotism, but I do recognize where the owner is coming from. If I own a business and I want to keep it in the family, that should be my prerogative and the people who work for me will likely see and know that. However, at the same time, I think it is equally important for the family member who is getting the perks to work harder for them than the others so that the perks are for good reason...just some thoughts....
