It's that time of the week again. The brains are in cooldown mode and are ready to whir back up for the upcoming week.
I've noticed a bunch of new faces appearing in POB and showing off their skills here in the Word of the Week. This has helped raise the #pob-wotw tag to #6 on the Proof Of Brain tag list! Nice.
As usual, there is more information to follow surrounding some changes this week, but for now, let us see who has taken the podium...

Balance Adjustment
- No updates this week, there will be a handful of changes next Sunday instead. We're working on developing some Grading Bases to provide some context behind the scores.

Delegation Station
Each week winners will receive a POB delegation that will remain on their accounts (more or less) indefinitely.
Accounts that use the delegations in a productive way and assist with the growth of the platform will have the delegation converted into a solid POB stake (details still to be confirmed).
I'm still developing a system to monitor and assess how the delegation is used so I can know if and when they should be removed (abuse etc).

We have a new word each week that members of the community can share their thoughts about in a post.
Any form of content is encouraged, whether short or long-form writing, poetic, artistic, music or voice, or any other method you can develop.
The guidelines for entry to the contest are as follows;
- The post must be made on the proofofbrain.io front-end
- The post must have the pob-wotw tag added to it
- Engagement is heavily encouraged
- Entries must be posted before 00:00 UTC on 06/06/21
- Posts must clearly demonstrate what the weekly word is
- Posts shared for the following week will be disqualified if published before winners are called for the current week
The word for this week is Ego
The prizes are the following and will be given in delegation form;
2nd place - 200 POB
3rd place - 150 POB
4th place - 100 POB
5th place - 50 POB
Prizes may vary over time dependant on support and curation rewards. Entries and comments in pob-wotw will receive upvotes based on authenticity and sincerity.
As I mentioned above, @scholaris has been assisting me with the grading and development of the Merit System. He's done a brilliant job so far during the short time he's been behind the wheel. Here are few things that sprung to mind that I'll share with everyone;
He removed himself from the competition straight away before the topic was even brought up.
He's added feedback to individual grades (we're working towards this kind of feedback being readily available to all, I may be able to make a public copy at the end of each week).
He's started creating Grading Bases for each category so there is a better understanding of how we're allocating points (this will be shared with all participants).
I was always concerned about delegating out some responsibility with regards to the Merit System, but I'm very impressed with how @scholaris has taken it onboard. Please share any thoughts or concerns you may have below in the comments, or better yet, drop a thank you (not sure if this post would be here right now if I didn't get the help towards the end of the week).
I'm planning to send @scholaris 100-150 POB per week (dependant on input) for his efforts.
A little line about myself; I've been away from home for almost a week, seeing a friend (the weather is absolutely glorious, loving life). I'll be back behind the wheel on Wednesday and back to my usual routine.
My previous post has had some fantastic responses and I apologise for not replying like I usually do. I will get round to this, just maybe not until later next week. Maybe it's worked out for the best, it's not an easy topic to digest and understand in one sitting.

As I am in week 2 of my participation in the WOTW contest I'll be checking at least twice daily through Saturday. Additional tools I'm developing for the contest are database monitoring for posts with manual verifications. It will take a couple of days to make available.

If I'm to award based on the criteria i've seen on most posts on equanimity, I'll rather say all participants are winners because i read so many awesome contents of various authors here. Despite this, it's not possible to award everyone at same time because we're expected to have winners amongst us. Great initiative by @calumam, one just need to keep pushing to be better rather than being discouraged. Congratulations once more.
Amazing, honestly it's great to see new names amongst the winners, brings a refreshing feeling. In the grading system, I got about 22 and to be sincere, I really have no concrete ideas as to how it works. But then its cool.
As for this week's words, looks good feels good and now im waiting to put them into good use. Cheers for the Well deatailed post of the winners. You're doing an amazing job.
We're working on providing that understanding to the community. Moving forward, everyone participating in the contest will have a better understanding of how the participants get graded. The metric guidelines will be a living document that gets enhanced with community member input.

I appreciate your efforts in this, too. It's fun to have a topic to challenge me...even when I don't win, I win because the community around the wotw is increasing. I have been staking more only because of this contest...which was the point...to spread the wealth and raise the number of those staking pob...

Most participants seem to stake a good portion of their pob so it looks like it has helped create somewhat of a middle class to spread even more pob around. Will be needed as more folks join pob.
Wouldn't want them to feel discouraged if no one were to look at their content or if the votes they get don't count for anything.
Yup, lol. There has been exponential growth that's for sure. I'm super pleased with how many people have taken to the contest and have went from strength to strength with their style and content.
There are a few of us potentially grading now, I'll be sharing the info on Sunday. We're also setting up some automation too, fingers crossed we can manage 100+ posts a week without much-added stress.
I am not at all comfortable or good at writing and grammar. I have always been great with numbers. I wanted to start challenging myself to get better at writing. The word of the week system that you have is helping me. The grading categories are providing input that I would have normally not received. Now I just need to understand the grading category terminology and what that means. LOL
I just read your entry for this week and I have seen a noticeable jump in quality since your first entry during the Bizarre week. That's really good to see, I'm glad that you're returning each week.
I'm hoping to get some more information about the grading terminology in the next couple of weeks so it's easier for contestants to understand where the pointed are coming from.

Well, I'm back baby, and ready to kick some ass!
The merit system is really amazing, it just feels good identifying how one is being graded and where the flaws are from ( if at all there's any)
So far, am loving my grades hehe, it all feels like am back in school :)

Superb, (i'm a bit late to the replying, had a hectic couple of weeks) maybe I need to create a side-persona for myself.
Yeyeeyyyeee my score is way too up this week. I love this transparency around the scores. It helps you focus on your weak areas and improve upon them. I was kind of waiting for this scorecard like I used to wait for my report card during my childhood (LOL). And i'm like this challenge even more now since we have started getting scores. So even if you don't win, you get to see your marks.

It's slightly harsh, yes, lol. I think it's necessary, but I'm always open to suggestions (I've given a few "Dull" scores and felt bad about it for about 2 seconds, I've been called much worse lol).
