Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, in the Cape winelands, offers some interesting granite slab climbing. There are three major features with established routes on them: Bretagne rock, Gordon's rock, and Paarl rock itself. All three of these granite domes can be summitted via easy hiking routes, but there are many more vertical and challenging ways to get to the top.
We attempted a route called Sands of Time. The climbing is steep and blank, and the style is not familiar to me. We ended up bailing on the route from the top of the second pitch of climbing.
