Happy New Year, World!
2024 has come to a close, and now I am trying to look forward into 2025... so it has become time for the "obligatory" Hive Goals and update post!
Well, "obligatory" is pretty tongue-in-cheek because I think this kind of post actually has a fair amount of value and utility, both as a historic track record of an account's progress, as well as to use a motivational tool of sorts — a benchmark to compare my ongoing progress to.
One of the things I have always liked about Hive as part of the blockchain environment is the fact that if can offer us a sort of "permanent record" of various points on our journey... unlike many communities I have belonged to that suddenly vanished overnight, taking all my content with it!
I joined the Saturday Savers Club in 2024!
I also remind myself that not everything we publish here has to be "for an audience." This is my blog, after all... and sometimes I need to use a bit of the space for myself!
Besides, I quite enjoy reading other people's "goals" posts... and I can't imagine I am alone in that.
Overview of Hive (top) and HBD (bottom
Hive
My Hive goal for 2024 was to reach 800 Hive Power. At December 31st, I actually reached 765.662 Hive Power, or about 94.7% of my goal. So, I fell a little bit short, but not disastrously so. It wasn't a great year for Hive, price wise... we actually ended the year down a whisker, as compared to 12/31/23.
My Hive goal for 2025 is once again fairly modest: to reach 1,200 Hive Power, which pretty much amounts to trying to improve a little on the rate of growth from 2024, including the fact that inflation and curation will be slightly higher with a slightly larger HP balance.
I don't like to set goals that are too ambitious because as soon as it becomes evident that I am unlikely to make it, I tend to go to sleep and then end up really undershooting by a wide margin.
I need to save more...!
HBD Savings
This one is a mixed blessing... I ended the year with 51.550 HBD in savings, but it's hard to build it much when we keep running into situations that "require funding," and no sooner than the calendar rolled over to the new year and I had to withdraw my savings again to help fund an unexpected $300 appliance conversion and installation.
So now we start from zero again!
Meanwhile, I am leaving a very small Hive savings balance and allowing it to build from cash yields from a couple of Hive-Engine investment tokens I have small — but growing — stakes in. Ended the year with 8.715 Hive in savings.
Hive Engine: Proof of Brain (POB)
After PAL became more or less obsolete as a posting/curation token, I turned my attentions to POB, and to posting my content primarily from the Proofofbrain.io and Proofofbrain.blog front ends, in support of that community. Unfortunately, both those free-standing domains shut down during 2024, so I am back to just posting from PeakD.
Ended the year at 8,682 POB tokens staked, more than 70% above my goal of 5,000. So that was a plus.
Now I just hope the token holds its value and actually starts growing in 2025. There was a time when the POB token was off and running and commanded a very high price!
Other Hive-Engine Tokens:
Although most Hive-Engine tokens and communities seem to struggle to go anywhere, I continue to support a number of them, in hopes one or two might get a little traction.
New to my list this year is @bradleyarrow's BBH project; I like that he's a long-time Hive evangelist and now is running a witness, in addition to having created a separate front end for BBH.
Still collecting and staking BEE tokens because if I'm going to support Hive-Engine based communities, I'm going to support Hive-Engine, as well!
ALIVE is also relatively new to me.
Maybe this will be the year when things go better in the crypto world!
"Investment" Tokens:
I'm also interested in slowly building some "passive" income, and have been dabbling a bit in some of the Hive-Engine tokens that address that end of the spectrum — I call them "Investment Tokens:"
I started out slowly building a balance in EDS tokens — which recently became EDSI tokens — because that was one of my primary goals for Saturday Savers. I fell well short of my goal, but I plan to continue building... and it might turn out to be a little easier if the price of Hive stays somewhat higher in 2025.
The other stakes I have are very modest at this point; BRO and INCOME are basically carryforwards from 2024.
BBH is new to me, but I am happy to support that project, even if just in a small way. I ended up with some GIFU thanks to an airdrop, so I'm holding on to those "just for grins," perhaps adding to my bag from occasional spare change.
Last — but not least — I ended up with a few LEN tokens, and this is another that interests me as a Hive-Engine based project that's not losing value.
Record Keeping Footnote...
Perhaps this is not the most interesting post on the planet, but I believe it's important to occasionally "take inventory" and benchmark our progress.
I'm looking forward to seeing how that reality turns out, by the end of 2025... especially if this turns out to be a really good year for crypto, in general!
Have a great 2025, Hivelandia!

Setting realistic goals makes our efforts gradually take us to our goals which would in turn motivate us. We may even surpass the goal in the process.
I am interested in the hive-engine tokens, how do I show my support?
Well, you can start at https://hive-engine.com/ where you can log in with Keychain. If you go to "Wallet" or "tokens" you can click on the red "i" to find out more about each token, including who created it and whether it's part of an interest group, community or game.
Thank you 😊
