Somehow human beings got the idea that the best life is one where everyone agrees on things
I spent years frustrated that I couldn't get people around me to agree with me so I was mean to them when they didn't. I was outright cruel. And it only ever made the situation and myself, worse. They never agreed and usually dug in deeper against my point. I'm so grateful I've learned to let people think what they want and do whatever they want. If they don't agree with me then that's all good. I'm not arguing with anyone.
And usually this means people think they’re better than others, when they’re in fact, worse. Which creates superiority complexes, arrogance, and even cruelty.
Yep this was me. I was so mean and arrogant that I was better than everyone for so long. I was "a 10" at everything I did 🤣 and when I look back on that person I shake my head. It's no wonder I was so unhappy. Again, so grateful that I can self-assess better though I'm only a 4 or 5 at it now so I definitely have room for improvement.
Simple: beliefs. People believe they’re doing the right thing, or best thing for themselves, or best thing for their family, or community, or whatever. No matter what action someone chooses to do, their beliefs guide, inform, and direct their actions.
Learning this changed everything for me. I realized I believed some weird things about life, myself, and others for too long. Learning how to change those beliefs (and any that don't serve me) is soooooo freeing and beautiful. Thank You for teaching me how.
New truths can be challenging, and I don’t want anyone to take my word for these things. Think them through on your own. Try the ideas on for size. See if they help you create a better life for yourself, and if they don’t, by all means, dismiss them.
Yes! I love this...well I love the whole post honestly. But this...You're not saying that these are all true and you better believe them all (LOL). I love that You encourage people to think on their own and try the ideas to see if they help. It's what You did for me too.

I've told the story often of my arrogant, conceited early years. Sometimes we have to get burned to become a master chef, and sometimes we have to be an asshole to become a good human.
All the 'weird' (for lack of a better word) actions people make come from 'weird' beliefs, if that makes sense. I'm happy you've taken more control over your beliefs!
