Alcohol is one of the popular drinks worldwide. Alcoholic drink is a drink that contain ethanol and this constitute the main ingredient responsible for mental and mood change. It is formed as a result of fermentation of food and beverage. Alcohol posses a strong effect on mood, physical and mental state. Some of the effect of Alcohol

Effect on the brain

Too much of alcohol consumption can pose a serious side effect on the brain. Alcohol when consume, change the normal activity and functioning of the brain. It decrease the communication the brain cell, reduce the activity of the neuron thereby lead to abnormal behavior of the person (drunk). Alcohol can also lead to short term memory loss. Excessive and Long term consumption of alcohol can lead to chronic in brain and structural abnormalities.

Effect on the Liver

Liver is an organ that remove or neutralize harmful substance in the body. Alcohol can cause a damage to the liver by increasing the fat in the liver which can lead to a condition known as "Cirrhosis"(Chronic liver damage leading to scarring and liver failure) (2)

Obesity.

Excessive consumption of alcohol can lead to Obesity. This is due to the fact that alcohol contain calorie rich nutrients. Although, Moderate drinking of alcohol is connected to decrease in weight gain while too much of alcohol consumption are linked to increase in body weight (4)

Effect on heart

The effect of alcohol on heart depend on factor such as low intake, moderate intake and excessive intake. Low to moderate intake reduce the risk of heart disease while excessive intake increase the risk of heart disease (5).

Cancer

Cancer occur when abnormal cells grow occur. Excessive consumption of alcohol has been linked to cancer of the mouth, breast and colon.

With these points, excessive consumption of alcohol is dangerous to the health..
