Zodiac is just a reflection. And you're right when you say it doesn't impose our Personalities. I'm Taurus and even though I pride in the fact we can be tough, I refuse to believe we refuse to learn. Yes, we can be stubborn in holding to our beliefs but I am very receptive to corrections. I try to change what I don't like and what bothers me or what some sensible people point out as bad. That guy was just talking out of his basic knowledge and not the truth. The truth is, the universe doesn't make you, yes your environment might contribute alot, but in the end, it is you who decides who you want to be.
