It has been a stressful week.As a network Engineer I face network incidents daily ranging from local area network in the offices to wide area network which connect us to a service provider and to a data center. This week I had to face series of downtime from a major service provider which led to branch outages nation wide.It raised a lot of dust and management is ready to hit the the service provider with charge back.As an Engineer it is a time to sit up and go to the drawing board and find a better way to manage downtime.
Moreover , my team has decided to provide second network Link to any branch with one link. This will increase cost but will provide the needed redundancy and subsequently reduce reduce income loss and reputational damage. We will also have to review our service level agreement(SLA) with the service provide to apply proper penalty clauses.
Nevertheless, I was nominated for a two training on team bonding hangout. This two days we engaged in several tasks to test how we could solve a problem as a team. We tried several tasks which exposed the weekends we have in our institution.I realized that the best way to achieve maximum result is through collaboration, design thinking and connecting with people s emotion.
Do not work in silos.if possible get a customer to be part of the business strategy session.Get a customer to participate in building the business case so you understand what they want.
definitely finding some ways to utilize your downtime is best! hehehe
and nice job for being nominated for the training and hangout!!! :) those can be super fun - but also really beneficial!
just a quick tip for you - when you're using images - see how that image above has the watermark across it? That's a big no no on Hive. You dont want to get in trouble for using copyrighted images :)
If you want some cool images that are free - go to places that have cc0 images for use! You have a blog that you get paid for... so you are in need of images that are for commercial use. that's the cc0 license.
