One Month Off Facebook - How Does It Feel?

Almost one month has passed since i hit the DEACTIVATE button on my Facebook account. This was a move a long time coming, and one of the main reasons i stayed on it so long was a couple of groups that were really useful whilst i was in Portugal. Then since i left a month ago i felt that it was time, and indeed a few people reminded me since i did say i was gong to quit FB.. and after i kept posting my usual controversial type of none mainstream views..... anyways i think its fair to say that very few people really read my posts anymore, especially after my Pro Donald Trump views!!! Lol.. (when i say Pro Trump i mean what he did, not his personality).. anyways thats another story....

So maybe you have been thinking about shutting down your Facebook account. Its a big change in a way, and yet also one of the easiest shifts that i have made from something that i have used every day to nothing at all.. I would have expected to miss it a bit more to be honest, or to have some kind of craving or desire to see what was going on there.. but you know what, no. .. really not,, nothing.. Its like dropping a stone out of the window.. its just gone and that's that!

One of the reasons i closed my account was because i was really getting very frustrated with this feeling that I had to try to make other people see and understand what I see and understand. YOu know, all that covid stuff, all this government conspiracy stuff, and so much more.. but it was one of the most unrewarding things i have done. I was always met with total negativity, and more often than not quite ridiculous comments that usually had nothing to do with the fact of what i was saying.. More often than not people would just drop stupid irrelevant links to articles that they expected me to start reading even though they were really nothing to do with what i was trying to share.. and almost NO ONE ever actually was able to comment or have a rational discussion about anything i said. Polarised is the word, and frustrating beyond belief.

In fact, it was all starting to take a big toll on my mental health. I just couldn't really believe that most of my old friends were so blind to certain things.. really truly in denial.. If i would share something that utterly proved what they were saying wrong then they would just ignore it completely.. No one is open minded. No one wants to even THINK about reassessing their views or ideas. It's just a total waste of time.

So by turning my Facebook off i have really allowed myself a relax a bit more. I no longer have to try to convince anyone of anything, and this is a real relief! It's all just gone, and theres now no noise or background fuzz happening. I no longer have to see a thousand ads, or ridiculous memes of fake news. I no longer have to wonder who is fact checking all that junk, and certainly don't have to worry about being judged and ridiculed by people who think that voting for centralised governments is the only way to live our lives. Man, just thinking about how people trust their leaders just makes me want to scream! But now i can just let that go.

So id also like to share that i have not given up, far from it! There is another place that i like, that i think is even more influential than Facebook, or even the Internet. Ive written about it a few times, and I call it the Inner-net. The inner-net is that place that we are all connected on. Its like a grid, a collective consciousness, and we are all tied to each other on it. Maybe for some people this is some kind of theory or idea, but to me its real, completely real and it works. Its also SO much easier to use, and much much less frustrating.

The way it works is that I just have to hold my knowing in my heart and mind as a feeling. I hold my truth and i do not speak it. I dont not need to write about it, and i do not need to push it onto anyone! I just hold it inside very quietly, a bit like a secret.

That knowing, that feeling, that knowledge passes through the entire Innernet, and it has an effect on everyone, everywhere far and wide. We are all connected to this Innernet, and once you become aware of it you can also give and take from it. As more and more people become ready, they are able to receive this knowledge, instantaneously. If they are not ready then they simply block it out. In this way we each receive the information that we are ready to hear, and there is no need to push it, or try to make other people WAKE UP! I dont think anyone who was shouted at to WAKE UP ever changed their minds about anything. What a total frustration..

SO, i am really happy to say that all that crap is behind me, and even though i definitely am dealing with a lot of heavy and challenging emotions and feelings right now, none of them are relating to other people or my frustrations about them thinking a certain way about this or that. How cool is that!

So, if you have been thinking about shutting down your Facebook account, id definitely recommend you do it. You don't have to delete it entirely, you can just DEACTIVATE it so that you do disappear but if you log back in again it will all come back. Also its worth mentioning that even if you do deactivate it you can still receive messages on your phone app, so you aren't totally cut off!

Of course the option to deactivate your account is hard to find, so here is how to do if if you would like to try.

How to deactivate your Facebook account

  • Click the upside-down triangle in the top right corner of any Facebook page. Facebook.
  • Go to "Settings." Facebook.
  • Click "General" in the left column.
  • Click "Manage Your Account." Facebook.
  • Select "Deactivate Your Account" and follow the written instructions to confirm your choice.

Now you can go do something less boring instead! :)
Happy days to you all! <3 x

I was obsessive on my FB account, until I deleted it in early 2021. It's been over a year and I do not regret my decision. If I'm going to be on 'social media' it might as well be something productive!

yep, i can remember those days! there WAS a time when FB was fun and interesting and light hearted.. those days long passed.. i havent missed it even a tiny bit! :)

I am not a big Facebook user but I do use it to have access to several groups that I need for support. If it wasn't for those group, I would hit the 'deactivate' button too. Thanks for sharing.

YES ! that was what held me there for a few years.. until finally i was able to let go of the last group i was on..

shame we all have groups on FB as its a terrible interface.. with non threaded comments and no ability to even message everyone!..

I still use Facebook and other applications like Facebook, as a tool of my work.
But in my personal life I am not that active. And Since I got into Hive, I have almost forgotten about them.
Great post!

Cheers!

thank you!! <3 yeah i save god knows how much time, and more importantly frustration not using that thing.. yes Hive is like another dimension!

almost NO ONE ever actually was able to comment or have a rational discussion about anything i said

I left FB for this reason three months ago. I found myself so often enraged, disappointed, sad, afraid etc. I thought "I do not want to feel this way about others" and off I went.

I LOVE your ability to connect with all humans. You enrich all of us by connecting this way. I, too, have felt this of late, but I hadn't associated these feelings with the lack of FB time. If we remove the shackles to negative relationships, we make room for higher frequency connections.

Lovely post!!!

thank yoU! really happy to read your comment!! totally agree.. <3

as a wise man once said

fuck facebook in the face.. :)

Rational discussion have gone out the window a long time go on that facebook...!

Good for you. I don't blame you. any platform that censors free speech as much as they do should be boycotted

yeah,, and its worse than that also with FB as im sure you know! they also propogate their own agenda as dictated by the powers the be..

Bravo Alex, I dropped off FB last year it was just too frustrating to read all the misinformation people kept repeating.
I am happier for it.
Enjoy your holidays!

Great read, and bravo! I've teetered on the edge of ditching the 'book for the duration of having an account there, so I feel you, Alex!

I love what you've shared about your decision-making process and your insights into the affects upon your own inner world and the connection all of mankind shares via that mechanism. Much resonance! I've deactivated a few times over the years, but am currently still using it to connect with like-minded people and to try to spread knowledge with the sleepers. It's worked for me quite well in both regards, which keeps me engaged and hopeful/buoyed by the little successes in reaching people there.

I'm back on Hive after a long absence (again!) but have resolved to try to remember to post here as well as on the mainstream SM, going forward. I can already feel that my days over there are numbered, and it would be good to bring my followers over to Hive if possible...

Kudos and much love!

Jay

Nice one jay! And congrats for staying sane whilst trying to help people awaken..! See u on the innernet ;) and on hive of course

...Innernet, Hive... and on the other side of the madness... 😊 x

haha i tried to lock my facebook account many times but my friends all use facebook and they won't be able to contact me if i remove facebook. Anyway, removing facebook is very good, it saves us time :D

Hahah do something less boring instead!! I love it Alex. Great jog deactivating. I can't do it... I use Maketplace quite a lot, however I have kept myself from interacting, posting, or trying to WAKE UP my fb friends a long time ago when I realized I had wasted 3 hours arguing with a friend and it went very much like you said:

I was always met with total negativity, and more often than not quite ridiculous comments that usually had nothing to do with the fact of what i was saying..

That was before covid. Yes I try to promote my Hive posts on there and thing like that but no scrolling through mindlessly, and no arguing that's for sure!

I was going to send you an article about the last US elections which has to do with how the democratic party used facebook to manipulate people voting opinions but you had to menion the innernet, so never mind! Thanks for the read and I will thiink a lot harder now about this inner-net we're all tangled in.

I like Facebook!
It´s an easy and effective way to find out how stupid and brainwashed some people really are.
But I also got some positive surprises too, by people I deemed boring and mediocre,
but who suddenly totally seem to dig the "freedom thing".
