The other day I was coming home and I heard from outside that I'm going to get a warm welcoming. When I opened the entrance door of the apartment building, stopped for a second to see which scenario will life be playing for me.

The warm welcome I mentioned above was in fact heavy barking from the first floor. That's what I heard already from outside. There's a bichon at the first floor, thinking he's the king of the building, barking at everything and everyone all the time. He was barking at me as if there was no tomorrow. He was leashed and his owner was holding him tight. I was told he doesn't bite, not that I'm afraid of him :) He is doing this with pretty much everyone, I hear him barking pretty often.

The funny thing is, he's not the only dog in the building, there's also a Labrador on the next floor but only a handful of people know that as mister Labrador never barks. I am one if the lucky ones who knows he exists because I met him twice. One time his owner was carrying him in his arms because mister Labrador had his leg broken and was not allowed to walk. On another occasion I met them at the entrance, where mister Labrador discovered the cat food put out for stray cats and rushed to have it as lunch. The owner could hardly remove him from the scene and even so, having his delicious lunch taken away from him, he did not bark at all.

The truth is, this Labrador never barks. I'm not sure if it's the nature of this dog or the species, but he's very disciplined and knows his place for sure. I had the chance t pet him and he was very friendly with me.
What about you? Do you have any experience with these two breeds?
