I don't know.

Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans.
Jacques Yves Cousteau

The last couple of days I saw a lot of postings about climate change, garbage, pollution. It's sad what people are doing. We only have one Earth, and most people are destroying it. First of all we have to blame the big industry, we keep on relying on fossil fuels. Some efforts are starting, but will it help?
And we have to blame ourselves too! The majority of the people still buy things like wrapped cucumbers. Euh ... Isn't the peel a perfect package? Honestly, I have to admit that I'm also guilty at some point. It's very hard to refuse to buy certain things that have unneeded packaging. I try to have a low impact, but 100% living that way is impossible.
But I do believe we can make a small difference. One step at a time. And when more and more people are jumping on the train, it's possible. Why do we accept buying liquids in plastic instead of glass? And I'm also pointing my finger to the politicians. Why don't they put high taxes on all those things? Do they have a hidden agenda or are they really that stupid and don't think about their children or grandchildren? I don't want to go to conspiracy theories, I just wonder how this is all possible?

What can we do? Honestly, I don't have a perfect solution. I'm not superwoman with hidden powers that can change the world. The only thing we can do are small things.
I wonder what you think about it ... How do you deal with this? What little changes have you done?

I re-use my spaghetti sauce jars. I use them to drink out of or cammed sauce when I get it among other foodstuffs stored.

I rarely bring glass jars to the recycling point, I recycle them myself too. They're perfect holders for oats, nuts, ... Thanks for your input!

I used to have a little side job in Recycling and I tell you that we West Coast Canadians are terrible with recycling practices of sorting our re-useable commodities. I don't know if other parts of Canada are just as non-compliant, but I can see why the cost of recycling begin to go far over budget, become self defeating, and the bulk buyers rejecting 'contaminated' product often.

Sad to hear that's also an issue in your place.
Thanks for the reply!

Well said, @fiatgirl I slip at times, too!

I think we all slip at times. We're human, not robots. To me it's more important to try and trying comes with falling down sometimes.

One to pause for a moment. If we all do a little bit, the world will get better, although it will take a long time to repair the damage that has been done so far! !hbit

We all are guilty of these things and we can't make a difference until we join hands together to achieve the results we want regarding waste management.

It is our planet and failure to take care of it will only cause huge problems for everyone in the long run.

Indeed, It's a huge problem we're facing.
Thanks for replying.

Yes, times are changing. Instead of thinking, more deeply, what we are doing with our actions, we continue to destroy. This year, for the first time in my life, I saw summer snow. Not only that but the rivers in the forests are full of trash and the ground is full of cigarette boxes and cigarette butts.

So sad, we're destroying the planet. And to me it's clear that the climate is changing. It's getting to a point of no return. Let's hope people will open their eyes and start acting. 🤞
