Ice-Cream Bush Leaves - POBphotocontest LEAVES

in Proof of Brain11 months ago

Greetings from North West, South Africa!

Lately, I am pretty much always looking for new and interesting things to take photos of, so when I was lucky enough to come across this week's #pobphotocontest post by @friendlymoose I just knew I had to give it a go.

All these photos are from one of my favourite plants, an Ice cream bush, also known as Snow bush or, if you prefer botanical names Breynia disticha.
I decided to take photos of it's leaves due to the fact that they are quite striking and unique looking.

The leaves on this particular plant, which I have growing in my backyard garden, only have green and white patterns on them as it is in a partially shaded spot, but if grown in full sun, this lovely bush can have pink and even white patterns added to it's leaves, making it obvious why it is named ice cream bush.

In a slightly annoying turn of events, I seem to have messed up the quality of all my photos by attempting to resize them for easy upload, due to my Wi-Fi connection having been weirdly slow lately.

All photos were taken using Samsung A33 mobile phone camera. Thanks to @kerras, who recently showed me a few camera tricks, I was able to have some fun messing around with various settings, which made quite a difference, even on a simple phone camera. Thanks for that!

That brings me to another bit of good news: I will finally be ordering the SD card for my camera this week! Hopefully the next round of photos will be much better!

Well, even though these aren't perfect, I feel like I have learnt some things and had great fun doing so! Thanks again @proofofbrain community and @friendlymoose for the opportunity and fun theme.

Till next time!

Incredible, the leaves look like they have been splashed with bleach

They do! When I first started living here, I thought there was something wrong with the plant 😅

There are so many different plants that we don't know about that sometimes seeing them confuses us a little lol

Good day, @hellsveiah,
How nice it is to admire the green leaves. After reading the title, I thought that snow fell in hot Africa and covered the bush 🙂

Greetings @irvet 😀 The snow pattern is about as close as we will ever get to snow in the part of the country where I live. A snow covered garden would have made for some amazing photos though.

Such good images. I am glad I could help. Experiment with distances from the leaf you are focusing on.

Thanks! Will try doing that for the next project 😀

Interesting looking leaves!😄
