My first rain in Abuja. It was sudden, I am not sure anyone knew it was coming this soon. All we have experienced in the last few weeks have been days of hell. We thought the pit of hell had been emptied because the heat was too much. The air was hot, the rooms, everywhere. It was an experience that we needed to be constantly supplied with power. In my country, there is no such thing. Instead, we had a low power supply or no power supply at all.
Last night, when the wind began to blow, I had thought, that would be the end. Nature had different plans for us. After the violent breeze, which set our houses on fire(the heat was on a high degree), we heard a downpour. Wow. For a first rain, it was rather wild and long. I mean long in the sense time, in Akwa Ibom State, a first rain, is always short, and less violent. Everywhere will still be dusty because all we got would be drizzles and a little downpour. Leaving our zincs dirty and muddy, because it neither washes the dust off nor contends it.

Therefore, when I experienced a long downpour, it felt different. Although it was violent, we were glad. The reason is that in the last 36 hours, the heat has been far away from us. We had mild weather, and I could snuggle up to the bed and sleep perfectly. The only thing I did was wake up and had everywhere cleaned of the mess the rain made, prepared food, ate, and had a good rest.
This rest was different and I enjoyed it. I am sure everyone did because I can't explain how much heat we have experienced in the last few weeks. It was so hot, you couldn't sleep during the afternoon or the night. That's how chaotic it was. Therefore, we are grateful for the rain. Quite a good number of conversations I have eavesdropped on today had been about the rain. Everyone was either thrilled or discussing the mess it created on their end.
I am not a human who likes the rainy season because everywhere is often wet and muddy. However, the fact that I have experienced a different side of life in this city in terms of weather conditions, I guess, I'll learn to appreciate the different seasons better. The way I wanted to experience the rain is quite different though. I wanted the downpour to be during the day, so, I can probably get under it, and get a photo. Yes, a picture with nature. It turned out the rain came in the night.... midnight to be specific. It's all good, for there will be another time.
The only issue we had was that as a result of the rain, there was no power supply. Our devices are down, and the only thing we got out of this is the joy of having a mild weather condition. It's all good. Once PHCN makes their rounds, checking for any fault or damages caused by the rain, I am positive, there will be a power supply. Until then, I am using my low percentage of battery to wish you a happy weekend. See you tomorrow.

The funny thing was that I was on the bed rolling from one side to the other. As I couldn't take it anymore, I just had to go to the tiles.
I was still awake when the rain started and was happy that a cool breeze would enter the room but I was wrong.
I had to go stand near the window hoping that I would feel the breeze but there was nothing because the breeze was blowing in another direction.
Well, the weather all through today has been calm, unlike other days.
