Here in the Caribbean skin-bleaching is a big thing in the black community, and even some ethnic Indians doing it too. There are definitely some colonial reasons for black people here seeing lighter skin tones as more beautiful, but also dancehall singers have made it more popular, as they sing about it and promote it in their music.

We need more conscious voices to wake the people up, especially in the arts.

Wonderful, thanks for your reply, I don't know if skin bleaching was due to the migration of blacks to other countries or probably because of having to live amongst people who aren't black and not being able to form their own personality, nevertheless, you're right, we need more conscious people.
