POB - Contest - COLD

in Proof of Brain11 months ago

First time in this community and entering the cold contest. I love the cold weather but nobody could have prepared me for the cold in the Netherlands - where my hands were so cold that they felt burnt.

The ice-skating experience was worth it all and of course a warm cup of coffee afterwards.

From Google:

On the coldest days, the average lows reach 0ºC (33ºF) and the average highs are between 5ºC (42ºF) and 6ºC (43ºF).

I came from Johannesburg South Africa a week ago and there we were having some really hot weather and so I was looking forward to the cooler weather.

Beany, warm clothes and a coffee - what more could I want

Thanks for joining the #pobphotocontest!
How cool that you visited the Netherlands! Yes, it's pretty cold here 😃
I've once made the trip the other way around and when to Joburg in your winter which clearly wasn't as cold as ours.

I'm still in Amsterdam until the end of the month - and loving it.

Cool, have fun!
Don't forget to go see things outside of Amsterdam!

We're definitely doing that - visited Utrecht already and plan to see other places

Haarlem is lovely too if it isn't on your list yet 😉

We were in Haarlem yesterday and Lee wrote a post about it - We went to the Chocolate place - we were truly in Heaven
https://ecency.com/hive-152524/@leelektrik/chco-chocolate-company-chocolate-heaven. Can you recommend any other amazing places for us to visit. I'm in Amsterdam until the end of December

Nice!
I don't know if you already visited the standard tourist locations and I don't know what you like, but here goes:
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
If you want to see windmills, go to the Zaanse Schans (very touristic!)
If you like 'old city centers' you can go to Delft, Leiden or Dordrecht.
Gouda (city of cheese and stroopwafels; buy both!) is also nice. My parents in law live there. The city hall is amazing. Go there when it's dark. There is also a winter fair on this weekend (starting on Friday).
Rotterdam is also very nice, but more modern.
You could visit the old fishermans town Volendam (near Amsterdam). It has an old harbour with small houses. From there you can take a boat to the island of Marken.

Enough to do!
