The Figure Skater 01 - Fiction Story by Krisz Rokk

Her heart burst full of joy, enveloping her delicate body in a beautiful, warm light as she looked up into the stars, forgetting the room, the contest, and the spectators cheering for her magical performance.

The triple-toe loop was her unique mark. Nobody could jump as high as she did and land so precisely in the very same spot she started from. Blue light engulfed her crystal white skates as she continued to spin, keeping her right arm up and allowing the left hand to dance softly up and down a silver line.

The blue light under her skates became brighter, and she felt at home for the very first time in this Earthly realm. Her face lit up as her light body traveled to a majestic place covered in what looked like blue-white snowflakes, with spongy spikes on a path leading to a crystal pyramid. The classical music filling the space calmed her, leaving no doubt that she had finally arrived.

“Home!” … Katie sighed, remembering her grandmother’s last words before she passed.

“Katie darling, there comes a time when winning medals and attending competitions becomes second nature. When you merge with the ice, you will leave your physical body and connect with other realms. This is what figure skating is all about.”

“Bravo. Bravo. Bravo.”

Noise filled the room while everyone was clapping for Katie. As candies and soft toys covered the ice, Katie continued to spin. A little child, closely watching Katie’s feet, turned around and shouted:

“Mommy, mommy, there’s a blue circle on the ice. Katie is drawing a blue circle.”

As the blue circle around Katie’s skates became thicker and started gaining in height and density, the clapping stopped, and the spectators got quiet, watching the buildup of a blue cylinder around the figure skater’s body.

Katie walked up the stairs of the crystal pyramid, bathing her ears and soothing her soul to the sound of a serene violin. The white doors opened, and a majestic white lion greeted the girl.

“Your grandmother is waiting for you.”

The shimmering of the crystal white floor tiles offered an exquisite show as lights flooded the long hallway leading down to a large room. Katie rushed through the corridor and jumped into her grandmother’s arms who was waiting for her at the entrance.

“I made it grandma! I can finally be with you again.”

Margret was a gorgeous lady with glowing white hair. She wore a white dress with blue sparkles and crystalline shoes. Hugging her granddaughter put a big smile on her face.

“Katie, your performance was phenomenal. The jumps were executed impeccably, and your quadruple Lutz was one of the best jumps I’ve seen in centuries. I’m so very proud of you, my love.”

“I trained so hard to get it right. I wanted to become the world’s best figure skater, just like you grandma.”

“My love, you are so gifted. Your unique imprint on the Lutz has caused havoc in the figure skating space. What’s next now that you have won the world championship?”

“I want to stay here with you.”

“Katie darling, you have to go back to the physical world. Remember, you can visit anytime now that you know how to do it.”

Margret kissed her granddaughter one more time, and before snapping her fingers, she whispered softly into Katie’s ears:

“Spread the crystalline frequency through your dance and imagination.”

The blue cylinder collapsed, and Katie stopped spinning. The audience was speechless and motionless. You could hear a pin drop. Katie bowed down, and when lifting her head, a tear dropped on the ice, leaving a small blue circle with a cylinder inside.

“Mom, look at this?”

Katie knew what her daughter was pointing at. She skated over slowly and smiled.

“This is where you won your world championship, right?”

“Yes, darling.”

“I will win that medal, too.”

“My baby girl, there comes a time when winning medals and attending competitions becomes second nature. When you merge with the ice, you will leave your physical body and connect with other realms. This is what figure skating is all about.”
