The story begins long before the events that occurred in the first movie, this time we can see how Lee gets out of his car and arrives at a supermarket where he buys some things and goes to a baseball game, where his children are and further down the bleachers is his wife Evelyn.
Everything was developing normally, when suddenly it is seen that something is falling from the sky; making all the party goers go to his vehicles; it is then that a disaster begins in the city.
The murderous creatures begin to appear and ambush a police patrol, then Evelyn goes for her car, while Lee and her daughter hide inside an establishment from where they can watch as outside, the creatures are murdering people one by one. .
Almost immediately, those inside the establishment realize that what attracts the creatures is the noise, so they remain silent, unfortunately a mobile phone begins to ring and one of the monsters enters killing everyone except Lee and Lee. his daughter Regan who manage to escape.
This brings us to the present moment, in which Lee is dead and the mother with her newborn son are packing everything up, while Regan picks up the radio from her father and some papers with important annotations from it.
Minutes later, the whole family leaves their shelter and enters the forest, following one of the routes that Lee had marked, through which they reach a facility; in which, when passing through some bars, a kind of trap is activated with some bottles and the noise that attracts monsters begins.
The family starts running for cover, but someone else watches them through a rifle. In desperation Marcus falls into a trap that hurts his foot and begins to scream, attracting the attention of the creatures; his mother Evelyn tries to silence him, but the baby also begins to cry, so she is forced to place him in the sound box.
When they see that one of the creatures is close to her, the family prepares to use the auditory coupling that causes them to be stunned and lose control, and then Evelyn shoots it and finish it off.
In the distance it can be seen how the Sniper is watching them, the family runs away as the shot attracted another creature and goes after them destroying everything in its path. Suddenly, the person guarding them intercepts them and helps them enter a noise shelter.
This character reveals his identity, and turns out to be called Emmett, who at his time was a friend of Lee.
He had survived the entire disaster and seeing that Marcus is injured decides to let the Abbott family stay with him. During his state, Emmett comments on how his children died during the events and long ago, and his wife a few weeks ago, because she became ill and he could not get the medicines she needed.
Suddenly, a song is heard on the radio, to which Emmett comments that it has been heard for 4 months. But that, even so, he is sure that there are no other people.
Regan tells Marcus that the song is a sign that can save them, they only have to get to the place where the transmission is made, but Marcus tries to convince her not to go, since it is dangerous.
The next day Regan is no longer there, and then Evelyn asks Emmett to go out and look for her, since he had commented that she knew the place from where the transmission of the song takes place.
Minutes later it can be seen that Regan is walking through the area, and reaches an abandoned train, in which the creatures had already carried out an attack, there; she decides to take a first aid kit, worse makes noise and a creature appears.
Regan and Emmett leave the train and go to hide because more creatures were coming. Regan convinces Emmett to help her because she knows the way to save her mother and her siblings.
Time passes and Regan sleeps; when she wakes up, she realizes that Emmett is gone, as well as her coupling and amplifier; feeling betrayed, she Regan comes out and starts crying; at that moment Emmett arrives and tells him that she went out to explore the area and that at some distance she found a boat.
Meanwhile, Evelyn comes out of hiding, but Marcus stops her; to which the mother convinces him that he has to go get the medicines for her wound and that he must stay with his younger brother.
Emmett and Regan come to a bridge and can see several boats in the bay, so they decide to go there. Upon reaching the bay, they see many boats and Emmett decides to untie one of them, but he hears something and realizes that there is a little girl.
Emmett approaches little by little to help her, but everything turns out to be a trap, and the girl puts a rope around his neck while several men get out of several boats.
On the other hand, Marcus leaves the hiding place to look for things and makes a little noise and quickly returns to the hiding place; the mother was arriving at the site and manages to see a creature almost at the site of the refuge.
It is then that he makes the decision to place one of the oxygen tanks at the entrance and shoot from a distance; this gets the creature's attention. Seeing that it was near the oxygen tank, he proceeded to shoot at it and thus make the creature explode; unfortunately it manages to get out of the flames.
At that time, the fire alarm is turned on and the sprinklers begin to operate; as the water fell there was a noise that puzzled the creature and Evelyn was able to escape.
Meanwhile, Emmett is trying to save Regan, as the men wanted to take him away, so he begins to make noise to attract a creature; Regan seizes the moment and jumps into the water. A fight breaks out and a creature arrives killing almost everyone.
Emmett manages to escape by jumping into the water, and realizes that the creatures cannot survive in the water, almost immediately Regan puts him on a boat and both are stranded in the middle of the sea.
Drifting they reach an island where there are many more people; there they take care of them and give them food. It is here where they meet who seems to be the leader, who tells them that the song is a sign of help, since there are several survivors on the island.
Emmett tells him that there are more people in a shelter, to which the island leader promises to help them bring them back.
Emmett comments this to Regan, then it is possible to see Emmett arriving at the shore where he regrets not having sought help with his wife. Suddenly, he begins to hear a series of sounds in the back and manages to see that there is a boat in which one of the creatures managed to arrive.
Emmett goes to the population to warn them what is happening, but it is too late, because the creature was already attacking all the townspeople. The island chief heads to a car with Regan and Emmett; him honking the horn to get the creature away from the villagers.
It is when they reach an antenna in which they broadcast the song, but when the creature arrives it catches the head of the island and assassinates her. Emmett and Regan enter, but the creature is already inside the control room.
Through a window they reach the transmission booth, but one of the door hinges clicks and the creature enters; Regan quickly sets up to attach the earplug to the microphone and causes the creatures to be affected.
Both the one with Emmett and Regan, and the creature with Evelyn and her family are affected; in this way Regan takes an ax and Marcus a weapon and both kill the creatures.
