“Guilt upon the conscience, like rust upon iron, both defiles and consumes it, gnawing and creeping into it, as that does which at last eats out the very heart and substance of the metal..”

Near my house is the Paseo Juan Guillermo Iribarren, a public space with a pedestrian boulevard, green areas, works of art in the open sky, with some of them that do not stand out for their good taste; and surrounded by two streets for the circulation of cars, and that some years ago was used for various events so it used to be quite crowded, particularly during Christmas when it was decorated with motifs typical of the season.
Previously, at one of its ends, there was a sculpture dedicated to Juan Guillermo Iribarren, hero of the Venezuelan independence, and eponymous hero of the municipality where the city of Barquisimeto, where I live, is located. This work was removed last year, being replaced by another one with a completely different theme.
From a metallic cube, probably made of iron sheets due to the rust stains, emerged the body of a horse while its rider wielded a sword like the ones used in the independence struggle 200 years ago.
The parts of the body, both of the horse and its rider, protruding from the metal cube, were made of some acrylic material or epoxy resin, and unfortunately some time after I took the photos, it was partially vandalized, breaking the tip of the sword, which possibly forced the municipal authorities to replace the work.
As I have described in previous publications, I used the editing tools offered by Picsart and Snapseed applications to intervene the original image to my satisfaction.
