I always find protesting an odd thing, not at the occurance or the action just on what it is that sets people off. I further find it fascinating the different stages people are at in their lives and what it is thats important to them. Like prior to the pandemic the main protests that were occuring where against global warming.
Many were sensible in that they sought change then some went over the top and wanted entire industries shut down. We even had a politician from the Greens party stand up in parliament demanding ALL coal fire power plants be shut down NOW!. Imagine if that was to occur, the government turned around and said OK and flicked a switch.
It would cause absolute chaos as hospitals would shut killing thousands, people at home would lose all their food, many would starve if anyone had oxygen tanks they'd fail at breathing.
Of late it's all the anti Vax, anti lock down people taking to the streets and I feel bad for their cause as I understand many are feeling it. These are tough times and we are all doing it tough. Although the people protesting are probably the ones doing it even tougher work and finance wise. I personally don't like it as someone whose partner is a nurse I often get worried if she will contract COVID and bring it home to the kids.
But I also know that the lock downs can not go on forever and in time they will be lifted. For Australia that time is sooner rather than later despite only having 15% of the population vaccinated. Which is no where near the level required but our two most populated cities Melbourne and Sydney are playing a different lock down game.
Melbourne went for hard lock downs where Sydney waited and locked down sections which failed to work and provide any alleviation to COVID19. but I don't particularly think they are all too concerned.
As Sydney is currently becoming swamped with only 220 new cases a day hospitals are already over flowing and people are waiting in ambulances for a room. ICU is pretty much at peak now and not to mention there is a growing cohort of people dieing at home, not even attending a hospital.
I fear that Melbourne will also be in this position in the coming weeks as we had a couple go about their daily lives that were symptomatic. One a teacher and one an optomotrist who had spent the week face to face with clients and children. Also playing soccer and attending a gym. They waiting until the weekend to go get tested by that stage they were pretty bad and now we are in lockdown as Delta has been been strain responsible.
But, Australia will be opening up soon and in what I can only describe as the old adage as Death by PowerPoint our prime minister gave an address how many Australians he would be happy for to die in order to reopen and return to normal.
Furthermore, recently a Liberal National Party member the same party as our Prime Minister also went public on numbers. He values a single Australian life at $AUD5Million and it costs $AUD330 million to save a life. He can not justify spending that much money saving someone's life from COVID.
The message is coming across that people are to get vaccinated and if they don't, they've had sufficient time to do so and the consequences will be on them no one else.
It's quite an unsettling and send chills down your spin article and position. On one hand Australians have a Prime Minister whom is happy to see X amount of people die and members of his party saying that it is too expensive to save someone's life from COVID.
You can read the article
here yourself.
What would you do if this was the messaging coming from your governments leadership? Would you be worried?
I read that in the news here and was surprised to hear someone so boldly put a price on a human life. Last fall both of my instructors were infected with COVID, but none of the students in their classes knew until it was too late. Fortunatly, all of my classes were online, but the in-person students only found out when someone mentioned it during a Zoom session. The other we were told was out for months with "heart trouble" but he ended up telling us during the spring semester that he almost died of it.
I guess you can say that at least your politicians say it out loud if that can be counted as a virtue by them. But the real question I'd ask is what value does the public put on their lives? Would thye be willing to be guided by the same metric?
That is a fantastic response 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Sometimes people are illogical in protesting, but I may excuse them a bit, because they did not find confidence in the government.
So they just want to protest in order only to protest in order to be heard
Sometimes people like to hear their own voices 🤣 but yes alot of times it is due to government decisions that people don't agree with.
Life is worth more than anything, there is nothing u can compare with life.
Yup, but some like to put a figure on it and if it costs too much to save the pull it.
Life is worth more than anything, there is nothing u can compare with life.
The truth is we all know there’s nothing of value save our LIFE(s)... Unfortunate truth is there’ are people fighting really hard to try to put a price/tag on human life .. This is the major cause of every evil 🌎 Wickedness, selfishness of man becoming great , and that every intention of the thoughts of hearts. only evil continually and we perceive this daily!! It's just upsetting how the world is - the need and the necessity to override the value of life.
Yup, and there will always be those that attempt to undermine our lives.
It's crazy how the government who is meant to protect the people feel it's okay to lose X amount of people as long as it doesn't affect any of their close ones.
The government actually care about life, just not the life of the masses, it's insignificant to them.
U weep when I see government treating people's life's like it's worthless, meanwhile gathering a whole lots of wealth, good social amenities for even there children unborn while the people they govern are struggling just to survive, it so bad, LIFE isn't o be compared with nothing, so precious, I pray someday our leaders will understand the real meaning of life
Yes this is a sad part of the world we live in :(
Life is worth more than anything, there is nothing u can compare with life.
Cost and value are definitely two different things, some people believe the cost is more than value

Good information. But i won't be worried 'cause so far in life i've realized that worry is a waste of time and it doesn't change the future outcome it only instills fear and anxiety on we humans and i must say that, that is not a good feeling atall.
