Just like anything in life, the more money is involved the more scammers it will attract. Working in IT for 20 years, I've learned its the common sense stuff that gets companies in trouble. Company SolarWinds made national news for causing countless hacks for the government and Fortune 500 companies. It wasn't some sophisticated malware. They left the password on their FTP server Password123. Back when the credit card companies got hacked it was because someone left backup tapes in an unlocked car. A lot of advice that is out there seems like "no duh" but its the stuff that gets people in trouble.
Yeah, basically human nature at work, sadly.
