But it abandoned its plans and added support for new assets, most recently Ethereum.
According to the announcement on March 21, users will be able to deposit, withdraw, buy and transfer Ethereum instantly.
This comes as an addition to previously available cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Tether (USDT ERC-20).
BitMEX promised its users that they could convert USDT into the second largest cryptocurrency without paying any hidden fees.
All currency conversion transactions made on BitMEX occur instantly, at the offered conversion rate, the company announced.
Alexandre Hauptner, CEO of BitMEX, outlined his vision on how to turn BitMEX into a larger platform in the crypto industry.
According to the statement, the company wants to add new assets in the following weeks, other than Ethereum.
In addition, the platform plans to launch an instant branch, in anticipation of the arrival of the immediate trading of the official digital currency of the BitMEX platform, as the company previously issued its new native currency BMEX and distributed it to users.
