If you’ve ever tried to lose weight, you know how hard it is to do. You think you’re eating better, but you continue to gain weight. It can be frustrating, but it also gives you an idea of how starving your body can make you gain weight. When you don’t feed your body, it has to go into survival mode and start using energy for basic functions like keeping your heart beating and your brain functioning

Starving yourself isn’t the answer to weight loss. In fact, it can actually make weight loss harder. When your body doesn’t have enough to eat, it slows down and becomes less active. This causes you to build up fat rather than burning it.
Starvation often causes people to gain weight. When you’re not eating enough, your body starts to break down your muscles and tissues for energy. This often results in weight gain, especially around the waist and in the face. However, if you’re only dieting and not actually eating enough to support your body’s needs, you may also end up with weight gain in other areas of your body, including your legs, arms, and even your butt.
