What started as a rainy day spent going through folders full of gigs and studio stuff from a few years ago turned into an insomniac editing session that resulted in this video. I have long been procrastinating due to incomplete or unsatisfactory source material, and I look forward to the day where I open my editing software to do something other than make lemonade from lemons. I do like the flavor, though - Here's Harry and the False Prophets:
So not exactly lemons, but what we were aiming for was 3 days for 4 of us to record 20 songs, and we'd do main vocals later. 3 of us got 14 songs in 2 days, 3rd day never happened, main vocal day never happened, and only 9 songs have guitar and bass. I'm on a mission to do something with this stuff as is, and rerecord the entire batch someday if it ever becomes doable (our live performances have always been superior to the studio, and I'm going to start recording everything).
My main problem mixing this batch is the snare drum being present in the vocal mic, which was supposed to be a temporary track. The vocal performance is good, but the dominant snare sound is from the vocal mic, and if I eq it to sound like a drum, the vocal suffers. And the drum performance wasn't great. All the same, Harry writes good songs that I love to play, and I'm confident that some of you will feel it is worth a listen. More soon.
May the Schwartz be with you.
