A friend is being released from the mental health department of the hospital today and my girlfriend is collecting her.
It's really odd the hospital didn't call us directly to tell us. It was suggested it might be this week by the doctor but it's bad form not even to confirm the day.
We were given 45 minutes notice from the friend. I don't really understand how the hospital can overlook this as the patient has social anxiety, panipsychosis (including visual and auditory hallucinations) depression including suicidal ideation and would need someone to bring her home. The diagnosis for now is unexplained psychosis but it's likely schizophrenia. This can only be diagnosed at s later stage as far as I can tell.
Honestly it's pretty unreasonable of the hospital to not give 24 hour notice with specific information.
We don't have a car so won't make it on time and I have work so only my girlfriend can go. I hope and pray the medication works well this time because she has been hospitalised 3 times since March 1, 2021.
After she was released twice previously she was in hospital again within 24 hours those times and before the current admission she extra anti-psychotics to try to get relief from the symptoms and we were concerned she would overdose and die.
I hope she will be normal and relieved of all symptoms. If not the weekend will be interesting but not in an exciting way.
For further context her family in Japan treated her badly including sexual abuse from her step father and emotional abuse, neglect from her mother. She moved to North America and her grandparents here talked down to her and called her a slut for having a boyfriend which is totally ridiculous. She moved to a house share and her relationship with her boyfriend ended in late January 2021 and psychosis started in March. She doesn't have siblings and few friends here so we are doing what we can to guide her to get the help to unravel and cope with her history of trauma through therapy as well as deal with the mental health symptoms which are pretty significant and life changing if not managed well.
She deserves way better than she was treated and I hope she can go back to normal and stick with doctor prescribed medication and go to therapy sessions.
