There is a bully guy in my class coming from an affluent background but doesn't like to adapt to any situation. He is very rigid when it comes to weekly seat rotation. He is headache to everyone. Being rigid is generally considered negative because it limits our ability to adapt to new situations. It prevents flexibility and growth in various aspects of life. At the sane time a modest person alwsys thrive to excel with new avenues. Putting the modesty personality of a person, our ancient Sanskrit has folloiwng verses :
सद्वंशजत्वं साद्गुण्यं शूरहस्तगतापि च|
पुरुषस्य च चापत्वं नम्रत्वादेव लक्ष्यते||
Sadvamshajatvam saadgunyam shoorahastagataapi cha.
Purushasya cha chaapatvm namratvaadeva lakshyate.
Sadvamshajatvam = sat + vamsha + jatvam,
Sat = venerable.
Vamsha = family dynasty, race.
Vamsha = bamboo.
Jatvam = born in.
Saadgunyam = having good qualities. Shoorahastagataa = shoor + hastagata + api.
Shoora = a brave man.
Hastagata = fallen into one's possession.
Api = even (to express emphasis)
Cha = and.
Purushasya = a person's.
Chaapatvam = reduction into a bow form. Namratvaadeva = namratva + adeva. Namratva = humbleness, state or condition of bowing.
Adeva = Lakshyate = be marked or targetted, appear.
A person born in an illustrious family having good qualities, and a bow made out of good quality bamboo stick, even if it is handled by an expert archer, both can not achieve their target unless they have the quality of bending according to the necessity.
A noble and learned person has been compared with a "bow". The word 'sadvamshajatvam' has two meanings i.e. a person born in an illustrious family and a bow made of good quality bamboo stick having capacity to bend when it is bent by stretching the cord attached to its two ends. The capacity to adjust according to the prevailing situation is called 'Namratva' or modesty, as against rigidity, It is this quality in both men and a bow, which enables them to achieve their target.
Adjustments in life are key to resilience and personal growth. It allows individuals to adapt to changing situations, maintain healthy relationships, navigate different environments, and ultimately, live a more fulfilling life by embracing flexibility and responding positively to new circumstances, rather than getting stuck in rigid patterns
