What a year and what a sunset! Yesterday when we were leaving Ikea in Tachikawa, Japan, this amazing sunset stopped me in my tracks.
Luckily we were on the 4th floor parking lot so we were able to get a better view.
While 2024 had it's ups and downs, overall for us it was a very good year. Our business had the best year ever, by far, and it's propelling us into 2025. It was so good I took a leap an bought a an Ikea hot dog with mashed potatoes on top.
Now I know why we are all dying and infertility is up.
On a different note, while I'm determined to make our business even better in 2025, I only pray that the bombs stop. We are entering a Thucydides Trap. Pray we find our way out peacefully.
And with that, the work is never done, so off to work I go!

I hope for the best with the next year—for all of us! I'll be ringing it in the traditional way, with sake, mochi, and kohaku (and my drunk father-in-law singing along with any enka that happens to come on), then run to the nearby temple for the bell ring. Ya, it was great timing. I've talked with people about timing and photography in the past. Half the time it's skill, half the time you're just in the right place at the right time. I was in the right place at the right time yesterday, just need to up my skill.
Same to you in 2025. I miss the those dinners with the In-laws. Mother-in-law passed away 6 years ago so we don't go to my wife's hometown for NY anymore, but those memories are still there. Enjoy dinner tonight. I'll be drinking shochu and watching Kohaku too!
