Landing In Los Angeles Amongst The Raging Fires

in Proof of Brain3 days ago

Well I made it to So. Cal, through the smoke filled sky or at least partially smoke filled. Here's what I saw.

Approaching Santa Barbara I started seeing smoky haze outside the plane.

I know our flight path was different from normal when I saw we were approaching LAX from the coast. Obviously to avoid the still raging Palisades fire and smoke plumes.

LA was blanketed in smoke, but not as bad as I thought it would be.

When we landed the Palisades fire was slightly visible in the distance.

As we were pulling up to our gate many people's phones began broadcasting emergency notices about evacuations, including mine. I also noticed ash floating outside my window.

The two big fires, Palisades & Eaton are still raging, while the other two smaller fires, Hurst and Kenneth are almost fully contained. However, the winds are picking back up so anything can happen.

In addition to the fires there has been a lot of looting. So much so the National Guard along with Police have set up check points around all evacuation zones to make sure no one goes in.

Down in the area I am staying, Irvine, the sky is clear amazingly.

I'm really hoping the Palisades & Eaton fires get controlled because the coming winds are supposed to last through a good part of the week. Say a prayer.

That's it for now. I'll report back anything else that comes up. Until then for more information you can visit Cal Fire which is the best resource out there for immediate information.
