My take away from this post is that there is no substitute for experience. I quote a famous South Africa Golfer, Gary Player, a lot lol. He famously said " the more I practise, the luckier I get". You don't get good at something but simply wishing for it; you have to put in the effort in order to reap the rewards. As Murukami says "perfection doesn't happen right away". Another quote I have come across which I love and which illustrates your second point beautifully is this by NBA basketball icon Michael Jordan who said "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." source.
