The Discord that Fell the Tower (POB WOTW - S2W20)

in Proof of Brain3 years ago (edited)

Legions of humanity arrived a Shinar. These were a people of one voice and one language. They cared for themselves and lived their lives apart from what was once holy to them. They weren't an evil people, but they wanted to live their lives amongst themselves unmolested by the celestials.

Behold the civilization of humanity.
A society of one people,
once voice,
and one language
used to build a tower.

The new people of Shinar designed a tower to reach the heavens. They did not do so to occupy the celestial lands. They did it to issue a warning:

Leave us our lives,
or we will make war with you.

Seu desafio atingiu uma discórdia com o infinito.
Uno por uno, su gente se dispersó y no pudo
escuchar el balbuceo que se escuchó.

hoc provocatione princeps
caelorum accepit

In that moment, one nation became 70,
and the tower of babel was no more.

Fearful of the accomplishments of the new Shinar people, the god of caelum shattered their minds. The action rendered them incapable of using the language that once made them whole. Their hive-mind fractured, their companions lost, it became an insanity of solitude.

The discord struck true upon the foundation of civilization.

Upon their realization, the once whole people scattered to the winds. They assembled with those of like language and became destined to toil the lands for generations. Humanity was no longer a threat to the fearful deity.

It appears that even the immortals
feared the power of the Hive.

The Hive Ecosystem operates differently than other social media platforms.

  • Facebook, Instagram, Twitter all have their own rules.
  • Hive also has its own set of rules
  • While many of their policies appear similar, there are some that are strikingly different.

If I, or anyone else, comments on your article or introduction post about standards to follow, you really need to pay attention.

  • We reach out for the sake of engagement and professionalism.
  • There is very little that is more frustrating than making efforts to share this information only to find someone now has a negative reputation because they ignored you.
  • If you get DV'd for any reason, please communicate your concern. We cannot improve if we do not communicate respectfully and professionally.

The Word for THIS Week

THIS Wotw.PNG
Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay

The word for THIS week is DISCORD (300 POB)

The word for NEXT week is Malicious (Reward - 300 POB, Challenge - 100 POB).

Welcome to the new Season!

  • The Word of the Week for this Week is Discord. Discord starts the second round of this season.
  • The new season takes place over a six-week period. The first four weeks have their own special word, but the last two weeks represent a bonus challenge round.
  • I decided to add a special bonus round at the end of each season. It allows for higher rewards and gives people more time to submit their articles for the contest.

I'm going to enter this challenge there are 3 days left right?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Nope. Contest ends Sunday at midnight UTC hours.

So far is like a few hours away right ?

This week's contest has ended. Prepare yourself...for the new word.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

xD i already thinked of an idea actually :D if is the word that was said on this week post as next week one xD

LOL that is a innovative way to see it.. so you've already guessed what is coming next @jesustiano

Basically i created an idea, morped it so it can be easily adaptable to wharever word they give, as long as is something "common" of course it could go batshit crazy and say a word like: coroner. And the whole idea would be shelved xD

Congratulations to the winners of this week, I mostly salute @samsmith1971 for killing it back to back. You’re really good at this…

It’s good to see that I improved this time, I hope I do better this week.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Thank you my friend! I thought your entry was notable too. Well done on your ranking. I have a sneaky feeling you are going to crack it next week. Can't wait to see what you write next! 😍

Thanks 😊😊😊

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Thanks @scholaris for being just a really incredible person to take this on in Cal's absence. I think we all really do appreciate the prize payouts that you hand out each week to all the winners and the upvotes that you give to our submissions. Looks like you are cracking 2 WOTW out together in one post here lol. I do love the way you write! Congrats to all the winners and especially to @melbourneswest who absolutely knocked it out the park for me this week! The general calibre of writing is improving week on week from what I can see, across the board, so I think everyone writing regularly and putting the effort deserves a huge pat on the back. It was also great to see levels of engagement picking up from the week before. People were generous with their meaningful interactions and I felt really proud and humbled to be associated with such a lovely bunch of creative folk who really do care about each other's creative progression too. If I haven't upvoted your post yet folks, it's because I haven't got to it yet! there were sooo many entries this week which was awesome. Need to spread out my reading to ensure my vote means something - even though it's not very big at the moment anyway ;-) Been loving the ones I've read so far. Another late night beckons lol.

Congrats to all the winners of HIVE! Let's move on to DISCORD! 😄

Well done, @scholaris and the team behind this contest! 👍

thanks so much for the shout out for that contest :)

Oh, that was easy. @wesphilbin has been sending me your posts. I feel it's a positive force on the platform.

That means a lot to me! All of us at DreemPort really want to build something very special that connects people IN hive and ACROSS the blogiverse hehehe

hopefully, a little at a time - we will do that.

And certainly - you're helping by spreading the word :)

Hi there @Scholaris, this is my post https://ecency.com/hive-150329/@jesustiano/the-presence-of-eris-apple But i dint manage to post it on proofofbrain.io i dont really know why, but it was imposible for me to open at the moment i made the post, i usually do my post on ecency and "push save" draft as a kind of control+g xD of the post.

But anyways, i know this might disqualify me, a rule is a rule. But still, tried my best to do a good post with the idea i had on mind, call for unity and community :).

I’ll allow it. You’re good to go. Consider using proofofbrain.blog next time if you can.

I just edited the post on proof of brain.io finally, like 2 hours triying to use it it was a problem with the keychain permitions, but now is fixed and i was able to do the editing, Duck xD

Why say duck, to not day a bad word, anyways, how do proofofbrain.blog works? it looks strickingly similar to ecency, i just open it for firts time.

Im workign on it <3 time to drop some discord among us :P (Not really, because guess what, im gonna mix up the last week with this one)

Hive is the future, its only a matter of time

I can see more and more people are adding in the contest making the competition healthier and the contest more successful.

Some people like @samsmith1971 , @mineopoly @d-pend and @melbourneswest do not seem to leave their place on top 5. More power to you people.

@scholaris sir, I have a question about grading system. I have got -1 on plagiarism. How far I remember there was no plagiarism except that I added a quote of Einestine mentioning its reference and source. Does it lie in the category of plagiarism? If it is so, I will avoid doing it the next time.

Let me check and I’ll get back to you.

Yes please, sir. I am waiting

@scholaris

Ask me a question please.

I got -1 in category O, would that be plagiarism? But from what?

It was all copyright...

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Ah, ok. Have you seen the public merit system? I believe column O is what @amberkashif is also concerned about. It represents engagement. It's a new grading criterion we're testing out. It applies to all articles entered into the contest during the contest window.

If you check out the merit system and check the top of each column, you'll see a note appear that lists each criterion.

There was no suspicion of plagiarism at any time.

@amberkashif

yes, but it's the same table I'm referring to hahaha column O is with the name of the plagiarism for the notes.

img_0.1193374983169794.jpg

I think it's just the name or the note in the wrong place As for the engagement, I already understand and totally agree

Oh my god that's old. Apologies. I'll correct that...no, definitely no plagiarism.

Exactly @scholaris sir, it is the column O I am concerned about. Mmmm. -1 for giving engagement to two contestants. So for commenting on 4 will bring zero ????

So, in terms of engagement, it applies only to when the contest is open. If you have engagement, but:

  • Comments with no replies from the author: -1
  • No comments from anyone: 0
  • Comments with one reply from the author: 1
  • Comments within continuous replies from the author: 2

about this criterion we will have a question to be thought about. For example, in my case I can't always answer them all on the same day. I just answered everyone of my posts from the last 3/4 days just today. And that made me think of the following. the person who makes the post on the day the participation ends, in the last hours, how to know if he will have comments and mainly re-respond? all this because of the time it takes...

Very good points. I’ll remove the column for this week. Instead, I’ll look at cross commenting on other peoples posts, but I won’t make it an official count. I’ll present the data next week.

Maybe, you could test something as people would have 3 or 4 days to post. The other days to close the 7th of the week would be to evaluate these criteria

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Ok. Now I got it. Thanks for the explanation but I could post at the eleventh hour and didn't get time to respond instantly. I responded them today

I’ll revise the rules. I think I can set up some automation that will let me see cross posting of comments. That way, if you participate in commenting on other posts during the week, you can get credit for it.

It will change the contest and skew the normal grading. Can you see it and how it will affect the contest? It will bring change alright, but baby steps for now.

Hmmm. That seems to increase engagement overall. It will make the contest more productive. Thanks for consideration, sir.

The engagement applies to your own article entry. We don't have the people to check for cross-commenting.

Wow. The entry was actually a tough one and my brain couldn't think of anything so I just had to rest because I had a lot on my mind already. Congratulations to those amazing authors who are so creative and came up with something. I can see my @kemmyb was almost there. I know she'll do it next time. Nice work.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Haha, thanks dearie! What's that song by Brandy? Almost doesn't count 😄

I look forward to your entry for this week's pob word. I know you will come up with an interesting piece!

Did you get dreemport's latest comment on your last post? Let me know your thoughts on it. 😊

This is epic, Quality and creative story.
Thanks for the information on the winners.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

@scholaris could you help me with this?
I wrote a post for the last pob-wotw, of course as usual at the last minute. Hehe
I don't see my post mentioned anywhere here.
Did I miss that deadline.. I don't think so.
Is there any other reason it was left out?
No wonder I didn't see your post for this week as well.

Life is pretty busy for me this week. I wasn't able to write an article in time. I'm a little sad about that fact. It's half-way written and I couldn't finish it.

You're article came out after the deadline, unfortunately. Give me a heads-up next time and of course I'll make an exception.

Aww no worries. Thanks a ton for responding. I understand how life can get too busy, lol it's been the same here for me. Have a great weekend.

I hope you have a great weekend too. Remember, just tag me on it. I'll get it in.

Thanks a ton, I will.

They did it to issue a warning:

Well when you challenge deity to war you should be ready for the reply.

In this case, deity knows that the strength of humanity is their unity, so he put discord between.

We need to measure our strength before calling for war. 😃

Posted via proofofbrain.io

Meanwhile, @scholaris I have put in an entry for this week. Hope it has been seen?

Posted via proofofbrain.io

I have you article. You're good to go.

You wrote a clever but haunting story for today's "WOTW" @scholaris. The Hive shall not stay down for long. Those 70 will after wandering in the desert for a long time will become a great nation.

Posted via proofofbrain.io

The story continued on my next article, but life got in the way and I wasn't able to publish it. I hope to be able to publish it next week.

I just realized that I misunderstood the word for this week. I thought the given word discord was associated with the app but instead it is for the actual definition of the word discord which is disagreement

My entry was specifically catered towards the actual app discord 😅. I still enjoyed participating though. I am wondering if there is a possibility to get participants to place links of their entries in the comment section of this post so it will be easier for all of them to engage with each other's post? I found it a bit hard to scroll through and find all contestants who participated in this contest using the POB front end.

I look forward to participating in next week's contest and get the word right this time 😅

Discord is the WOTW. It's the word, not necessarily the definition. The app is certainly a representation of that definition so articles submitted to that degree are allowed. I anticipated the entries so I didn't challenge them when they came about. However, if you explored the definition and its implications, that certainly would work to your favor.

Thank you so much for clarifying everything for me! Really appreciate it

Congratulations to the winners, Mind blowing entries. 😊👍.
@abdul-qudus welcome to the POB community, congratulations on your win, quite surprising and rocking entry, you joined this month only, that's what I call killing in the beginning, lol. 😊
@mineopoly bring some beers friend, chilling at #3 😁🙏
