Why is it hard for alot of people to accept their mistakes

in Proof of Brain3 years ago

Why is it really so difficult for the individuals to really admit that they were wrong? Is it really wrong to make mistakes? How many times has this happened to us, that when we make mistakes we do not want to admit it. Sometimes we find it easy to avoid this.

Many times to avoid assuming our mistake, we seek to blame others or try to justify ourselves. Accepting our failures we can see it as a weakness instead of a strength. But even though it is difficult to accept our failures, it is the healthiest way and one that will help you improve as a person.

When we do not want to admit that we are wrong, we refuse and in that case we would not accept any constructive criticism, which could help us improve in various aspects of our life.

Assuming a mistake does not make you weak, it will help you to be good with yourself and with those close to you and, to grow as a person.

In life we are always going to make mistakes and it is normal but the most important thing is to accept them and learn from them.

But why does it really cost us so much?

It can be for various reasons, such as being a perfectionist, proud or when what you think of yourself is confronted with what you did wrong, that you hurt another person either with your actions or words, and then what we thought of us did not it is entirely true.

Reading, I found something very curious that has a lot to do with this issue and that is that in 1954 a small religious group believed that a flying saucer would rescue them from the apocalypse that was going to occur on December 20 of that same year. Psychologist Leon Festinger investigated this group and wrote that the members refused to accept that their belief was wrong and mentioned that God had simply chosen to forgive them, as they grappled with their own cognitive dissonance by holding on to justification.

Mistakes show progress. They help up grow and learn.

It's quite inevitable as humans are not perfect and are bound to make mistakes.

It's just left to us to accept them

This is one thing that have at times complain about here in my domain, people tend to avoid taking responsibility most times in life and as a result of this they rather bring up lot of excuses than accepting the fact that they are at fault for errors committed by them
