Suddenly Become a Kindergarten Teacher

in Proof of Brainlast year

Hello, Hive World. How are you? What updates are there?

It's been a long time since I wrote here. Some time ago, I felt overwhelmed with writing and photographs, so I took a break for a moment.

During the break, I tried to do new things that I thought could make more money. But it seems the same: if we don't focus and don't do it consistently, the results will be insignificant or even nothing. Ha ha…

But there is a new activity that I have done from the start with voluntary intention and focus and have done quite consistently for the last 4 months. This activity is very different from my usual activity of just sitting in front of my laptop.

Since the beginning of August, I have been teaching English to preschoolers/kindergarteners. It's only once a week, but it's enough to make me feel excited.

It started with a tweet from my friend, who said that he was doing social activities in a slum area. Apart from distributing healthy food for stunting children, he also created a simple school for early childhood education in the area. He also needed someone to teach English and computers to the children in addition to regular lessons.

Reading his tweet, suddenly my impulsive urge arose. I want to become a volunteer there. Moreover, the location is relatively close to my residence. My friend gave a good response to my submission. However, because there were no computers in the class, he asked me to teach English.

I remember that I used to be a teacher's assistant at an English course for preschool children aged 2–5 years. It was a very pleasant experience at that time: interacting with children, teaching and singing children's songs in English, and, of course, playing with them.

From my little experience, I immediately agreed to my friend's request. Long story short, after discussing and considering the time, I decided to teach once a week, on every Tuesday. And I started it in the first week of August 2023.

A few days before starting teaching, I prepared myself first by making a lesson plan based on the official curriculum that I got from the internet. I also studied videos of teaching and learning activities for preschoolers and kindergarteners, especially those based in English, and collected numbers of nursery rhymes.

On the first day, I introduced myself and taught them to introduce themselves. After that, I taught them to sing and move according to the lyrics of the song. For example, the songs "Make a Circle," "Hello, Hello, Can You Clap Your Hands?" and "Walking-Walking".

Of course, it wasn't easy. Some children are easy to direct, some are a bit difficult, some are enthusiastic, some are still shy, and some don't want to listen at all and choose to get busy themselves instead. But that's okay; they are kids! We can't force them to do something, right? The important thing is that we have fun first and get them used to hearing English words in songs.

Luckily, they enjoy the English lessons. Now that four months have passed, they're making progress. They have memorized several songs and can say a few words in English.

I will tell you about my experience in more detail. But now my post is too long already. I have to stop it. Hehe... I hope you enjoy reading it.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a nice day!
