Thanks, I spent last night pencil in some ideas and I hit on "We are the words that
we eat" and felt there was something so very poetic in that turn of two common phrases in American English (e.g. "You are what you eat" and "You'll eat those words")

I can see what you did there. It ties in nicely with the central running theme. I'm assuming the "dish of bitter truth" is that kind of deceitful false niceness that some express in an attempt to portray themselves as authentic and genuine?
It's that and/or how you receive even the most compassionate truth but your mind was set against receiving it.
