Good day everyone. I am glad that I finally had the time to contribute on the word of the week before the weeks runs out.
Happiness doesn’t come as a result of zero problems, in fact problems would always remain as long as there is life, but being happy is to accept one’s present problems and to believe that all will be well anyways. This is why we still find a lot of happy people in the world today. I think happy people understand the preserving power of happiness.
Few weeks ago, in a Sunday service, a man and his family came to give their testimony and thanksgiving to God on how he was diagnosed of a terminal disease which was meant to claim his life in six months, and how he had survived ten years after the diagnosis.
On the 27th of November 2011, he was diagnosed of B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (PLL), the doctor also stated that he has six months to live. He was then given prescription on the drugs to be used pending the time and was asked to go home and have enough rest.
At this point, sorrow filled his heart, he practically knows when he would be leaving this world, his wife, children and everything he cares about.
His home generally was void of happiness but his wife and children was left with no choice but to keep him happy throughout the remaining days of his life. His wife created more time to be with him, she also invites families and friends to come around, throwing house parties just to make him feel happy.
Their pastors and church brethren also come often to check up on the family and to pray for them, bringing gifts along. People never showed pity faces while he was around. His wife made preparations for the family to visit nice places, watch movies at the cinema, play indoor games with the children and every other thing she could think of, to make her husband happy. His birthday was celebrated like it was going to be the last, people came around to merry all day. His favorite celebrities were also invited. All these was to just keep him happy and forget about his sorrows.
As time went on, this man was filled with joy that he almost forgot that he was battling with a blood cancer. He started going to work and sometimes he would work from home, he went back to his normal life routine, but this time, consuming more fruits and having enough bed time.
After six months, they went back to the doctor for check up. While the doctor read through the test results, he was surprised as he said that this man’s health conditions has improved and that it is possible for him to live a few more years.
This man continued to live a life without stress, a life with peace of mind and happiness. He came to church after 10 years to testify of how God had kept him alive, he also said that he had stopped going to the hospital for check up, living a normal life as if his disease never existed.
This testimony proves that happiness does not only freshens the mind but it also preserves the soul and body.
