Think of me as a rebel. A renegade. Throwing up a middle finger to the establishment and marching off into the great unknown to blog and create content on blockchain platforms.
Say what, you say? My friend, if you're sceptical about the possibilities in this space, then maybe you're new to crypto and you don't yet fully appreciate its worth, or maybe you do not fully appreciate that in 2022, the world is an oyster for the content creator. And I've got a thing for crustaceans and shellfish. So I'm seasoning things up with crypto.
Too often we doubt our dreams before they even sprout because we give into the negativity of sceptics or to our own doubts.
The thing is though, innovators, people who shake the table, people who are successful, people who are great, people who are remembered and lauded for their accomplishments for years after they have passed on all understood one thing. They understood that to succeed one must master the art of staying focused and cutting through the hoopla.
And so, my friends, if you're on a journey similar to mine, the best I can say to you at this moment is: Stay true to your purpose. Even in your darkest moments.
Sometimes when we choose a road that's not often travelled, it can be concerning to those who may mean well but may perhaps be less adventurous. They don't have your vision. They'd see the risk and not the opportunity. But you've got to believe in what you're doing, right?
Think of Satoshi Nakamoto. When he came up with the concept for Bitcoin, I'd expect that there were those who didn't share his vision and scoffed. Yet there is absolutely no disputing today the impact that he has had in starting an industry that has shaken the very foundation of the financial systems on which our societies have been built, not to destroy them mind you, but to provide us with a stronger and more sustainable economic foundation going forward.
That said, of course, while Satoshi had his sceptics, he didn't spend an inordinate amount of time trying to get them around to his point of view, right? Because he also had supporters, people who bought into his vision, saw its worth, and who helped to make Bitcoin and, ultimately, crypto great. And when that happened, everything else fell into place.
And so, recall I previously posted about finding your people- like-minded communities that speak the same language, share the same goals. Like Hive, for example, where we all get it. We all love crypto and we all appreciate the opportunities available to us as content creators.
Pursuing a dream isn't always going to be easy. In the beginning, chances are pretty good it's going to be as tough as hell.
You've got to strap on, brace for volatility, expect many lows, a lot of bouncing around and loads of discomfort before you start to soar. Only, you've got to be consistent.
Maybe you'd have days when you earn absolutely nothing. You can't give in.
Maybe you'd have days when you'd be ridiculed by those who don't get what you do or why you're doing it. You can't give in.
Maybe you'd have days when your inner voices of doubt threaten to consume you. Keep on going and don't give in.
Maybe you'd have days when things seem really, really dark. Be calm. Your eyes will adjust to the light.
You will learn to be resilient. You will grow `strong. And when your circumstances improve, these are the shaping moments that you will recall with pride.
Listen, friends, I've shed more tears behind this dream than I'd like to admit. I've pulled at my hair in frustration, endured subtle digs.
I've been blinded by doubt and even by the desperate need to do something because maybe other people are successful for whatever reason and I won't be. But then I told that voice to be quiet.
Before she passed away from cancer a couple years ago, a very good friend of mine told me that I could do anything I wanted. I told her I loved to write and she simply said with a wan smile, "Then do that. You can do it. I know you can."
And so, whenever the winds of doubt come blowing, I remind myself of my friend and her words of motivation. She believed in me. I should too. I'd rather give her words weight than the words of someone who thinks I can't stand on my own two feet.
And so, my friends, I'm walking with my bed on my shoulders and growing muscles in the process.
I'll write.
I'll do videos.
I'll create pretty much whatever content I think can add value.
And I'll learn, build relationships, and grow.
That's what life is about, right? Evolution.
In the meantime, as I move from this stage to the next, I've started evening walks and I've invested in a pair of Bluetooth headsets, uploaded the motivational songs I want to listen to, and I'm filling my space and mind with positivity.
I'm staying the course. I'm staying focused.
Because I get it. Greatness is never easy. It only looks like that from the outside and only because we only notice great people after they've succeeded.
