Living near the beach and the ocean is such a blessing in my life and I’ve learnt to take advantage of it whenever I can.

On Wednesday my daughter had a migraine and I didn’t want her driving so I offered to drive her to work in the morning. I absolutely had a an alterior motive.

The drive took us along the beautiful St James area of Cape Town which is along a lovely coastline of deep blue sea, dark rocks and steep mountains.

I dropped her off and headed straight to the beach. I’m trying to get myself into the cold water as often as I can and now there was no excuse not to stop and enjoy it!

I dropped my things on the sand and tentatively walked into the tidal pool at St James beach. It was COLD. SO COLD! My toes ached and my legs tingled the deeper I went. I was soon up to my waist and got stuck trying to avoid dipping all the way in.

Eventually I plucked up the courage and joined the other folk floating in the pool up to their necks. I kept trying to tell myself it wasn’t that bad, but it was. The cold was biting and I convinced myself to stay in for 3 minutes.

It felt like the longest 3 minutes of my life but I did it and slowly waded back toward the sand.

I wrapped myself in a towel and slowly walked up the path to Folk Cafe for a latte. The sun was shining and warm on my cold skin. I needed to sit still and enjoy the warmth from the sun and my coffee.

The atmosphere at Folk Cafe is relaxed as other gathered for meetings or just a coffee and breakfast while I sat working on my blog.

Eventually I realised I needed to head home to change out of my wet swimsuit before going to fetch my daughter from work again later on.

I don’t want to skip by these days. I want to sit in them like a teabag in a cup of hot water, brewing.

A beautiful beach, cold swims didnt use to bother me when I was younger, in my 60w now I like heated pools if I do go for a swim LOL

that Folk Cafe also looks pretty nice

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Cool! So glad you enjoyed it. It’s even better in real life 😊. I’ll have a coffee for you next time!

So kind if you 👍

It's -30 here today.

Everything about this post looks beautiful!!! Even the Latte! The barista definitely had more practise that I do.

This is my macchiato from yesterday.

I need a little more work on my appearance.

Going out for a coffee is my favourite thing to do! We have a nespresso machine at home but it’s always so much more of a treat to get a proper frothy coffee out 😁
