Stropharia caerulea, dal latino caeruleus, blu ma anche azzurro o blu-verde, in riferimento al colore del basidioma, non solo del cappello.
E' un fungo molto affascinante ed anche non molto comune, le sue colorazioni abbastanza rare in natura lo fanno saltare subito all'occhio e lo contraddistinguono dagli altri generi.
Il cappello dai colori sopracitati risulta abbastanza viscoso quando è umido, il velo è scarsamente presente sul cappello con fiocchi che vanno via al tatto, un po' più persistente lungo i margini. Presenta macchiature giallastre più o meno evidenti.
Stropharia caerulea, from the Latin caeruleus, blue but also light blue or blue-green, in reference to the color of the basidioma, not just the cap. It is a very fascinating and not very common mushroom, its colors quite rare in nature make it immediately catch the eye and distinguish it from other genera.
The cap with the colors mentioned above is quite viscous when wet, the veil is scarcely present on the cap with flakes that come off when touched, a little more persistent along the edges. It may present yellowish spots.
Le lamelle sono adnate inizialmente chiare poi a maturità bruno grigiastre con tonalità violacee durante la sporata.
Il filo lamellare è concolore alle lamelle.

L'anello è un carattere importante per il riconoscimento, in Stropharia caerulea è molto evanescente, delicato, carattere che lo contraddistingue da Stropharia aeruginosa dove rimane persistente e più voluminoso. Il gambo è concolore al cappello con ricche fioccosità biancastre.
Alla base del gambo sono sempre presenti le rizomorfe con funzione di ancoraggio e assimilazione nutrienti.
The ring is an important character for recognition, in Stropharia caerulea it is very evanescent, delicate, a character that distinguishes it from Stropharia aeruginosa where it remains persistent and more voluminous. The stem is concolorous to the cap with rich whitish floccosity.
At the base of the stem there are always rhizomorphs with the function of anchoring and assimilating nutrients.
