This is my entry for #FungiFriday initiated by @ewkaw
For this week Fungi Friday session I have a few weird fungi that I encountered on a dead hardwood in my parent's house that was used as a step for my mother to the other part of the house compound. It was laid out there for quite some time, and because it is a hardwood so it might take a very long time to decompose. and often time I also saw some mushrooms grow on it.
But most of them are the weird ones, and today I have a few species of those weird mushrooms that somehow could thrive in that kind of condition. maybe the fact, that we are still in the wet season could make this guy thrive well in these woods.
The first one that I have today is a bunch of white color hard mushrooms that stick out from that wood surface, and there are a lot of them. They grow in clusters. They stick out straight, before then bending to the side after it reach a certain height.
from the internet search, these white-colored fungi is most likely members of the Xylariaceae family known as the dead's man fingers. This one might be the Xylaria hypoxylon although unfortunately it doesn't have any branch on its body.
And then the next one is another species from the same family. But this one has a black-colored body, which makes it even more interesting. These interesting fungi might be xylaria apiculata This one is totally a dead man's fingers because it is already darkening in color. ;)
And then the last species that I have today is these orange fungi, which have a bright color. it looks very soft, more like a small caterpillar. ;)
