So when off-season I still like to have them around in my kitchen for tasty foods.
The best way to keep them fresh is to dry them after picking them up.

Before use use just need to put them in water for a minimum of half an hour so they are soaked. After that they can be used for the regular recipes just like fresh.
When dried keep them in a dry place, where no flies can have acces to them, so they don't lay their eggs on them and also humidity should be avoided.
