Good night everyone ☕🍄
This is my contribution to the #fungifriday contest organized by @ewkaw
on this occasion I want to show something interesting to all of you, and of course the uniqueness that I want to publish in this post is still around the world of mushrooms, are you curious?
So this evening I went to the papaya garden that I planted in early January 2025 and luckily now the plants are flowering and in the near future I will enter the harvest season, this is my first achievement in 2025 about agriculture, I am happy with this achievement and I want to publish about my garden in a different post, as you have understood to start planting of course you have to cut down many dense trees so that the papaya plants can get direct sunlight so that their growth is maximized and according to your wishes of course.
Among the several tree trunks that I cut down are now naturally rotten, and accidentally at the base of the tree there is something that caught my attention, from a distance it looks like a pile of threads arranged very neatly, it made me curious and I decided to approach the base of the tree to be able to confirm something that I just saw, yeah I'm not someone who can just ignore it, if I don't go to make sure what I just saw it will make me curious and difficult to focus on other routines, so I went there to see what it was, and do you know what I found there?
After I was near the base of the tree and observed for a while and finally I could recognize that what looked like a pile of threads from afar was a dead mushroom, this really amazed me and this was the first experience for me since becoming a mushroom hunter in the wild and so far the adventures I have done and I have never found anything like today's findings.
Now let's see them up close, I have taken some photos for you.
Do you agree that they look like a pile of threads from a distance?
I believe they are a species of mushroom that has died is in the layout or position of their existence, I see each base that is arranged very neatly and I assume that they are oyster mushrooms because the way they grow overlapping each other, from some of my experiences in the world of mushrooms this shows that they are the remains of oyster mushrooms that have died for several weeks.
it was very interesting and I plucked a few to look at them in more detail, this was an experience I should not waste.
as I held them tightly, a fine powder started to fall onto my fingers, I wanted to do something different, and luckily there were ferns around, I picked a fern leaf to put these mushrooms on and to find out what kind of powder was coming up onto my fingers as I held them.
after placing them on the fern leaves and making a few gentle movements so that the fine powder sticks to the fern leaves so that I can observe them closely.
After removing the remains of the fungus that look like threads, the surface of the fern leaves is filled with soft fungal spores with a distinctive brown color.
After finishing observing and enjoying every detail on the remains of the dead oyster mushrooms, accidentally on the same surface of the wood I saw something very striking again, the species I found was bright yellow with a strange texture where the entire surface looked like sharp thorns owned by poisonous caterpillars, but their calmness made me curious and finally I took a small twig around to touch them, I didn't want to do it with my bare hands I really wanted to save my hands, so using a small twig was the best solution.
after several times I pushed them using a small twig and the species broke and that made me even more curious, I came closer and looked at them closely and it turned out that it was a rare mushroom species in the place where I live, this mushroom was the first time I found it so I didn't know about them at all.
I have captured some images to share with you, if you are familiar with this species of mushroom I would appreciate your cooperation in letting me know about them in the comments and I will add them to this post for the benefit of everyone.
This is a rare species of mushroom with a strange appearance and very small size.
