Hi all,
Today we have a Super Special and Challenging topic in the #FungiFriday community.
”Fungi Art”
And as I said in the (not so distant) past, I will draw or paint some mushrooms and fungis once in a while, I have to oblige of course today 😉
@ewkaw chose the Topic :
I didn’t have much time this week, so yesterday evening I made a quick sketch and captured my progress of how I created the drawing.
Hereby I want to show you all my Step by Steps of this drawing and a few edited images of it in LightX Express.
The sketch pad I use is from Hahnemüle, the size is 30 x 30 cm and 170 grams/m2 so it is quite thick. I love to draw on this paper and make most of my drawings on it.
Step 1
My materials are graphite pencils in the range of 2B, 4B and 6B for the darker darks. Further a soft brush for spreading the graphite out over the paper/ make it smooth and blend and a TomBoy Mono Zero eraser for the highlights.
The paper has a large grain which I like a lot. You can use it in your drawing.
Step 2
Here I started the mushroom, I decided on just one with a blurred out background. I drew the outside lines and started the shadow. It is standing in some grass and moss. This is done with the 2B pencil.
Step 3
Now that I have my main features of the mushroom I start with the 4B pencil softly, holding it sideways, the background.
Step 4
After I have put down a soft layer on the background I go over it with the soft brush to blend it a bit. (The eraser is only to hold the brush for the photo hahaha it was rolling away😉)
Step 5
I drew more grass and plants and moss, but faded… blurred out into the background as I want the mushroom to steal the show. Added more details too.
Step 6
My finished drawing of this Mushroom
Now I show you a few other versions/ edits I created in an editing program. I was just playing around… 😎🎨 but I liked some of them.
Here you see I added a little colour and faded it more.
This one is more Black and White and a bit darker.
I like this edit, it looks like a proper illustration.
A very dark themed Mushroom 🖤
This is my favourite edited version of my mushroom drawing. 🥰😎
And with this last photo, I want end my Post and Entry for the topic ”Fungi Art” for this arty #FungiFriday.🍄🎨🍄

It's obvious that you're a professional painter...
Thank you so much @ipolatjeh1988 😊
Your drawing is quite interesting, but mine also looks more professional like a 7 year old child's painting...... LOL...hahaha... 😁😁
Thank you, it was a quick sketch. 😉
Think like this. Every drawing is a piece of art. If it’s a child drawing or a grown up… there is no age related to it.
Enjoy the whole creative process… of how it evolves… the thought at the very beginning, that you came up with the idea. The materials you chose, the coloured pencils. The first lines and then the colouring… it all matters and is just a beautiful process! 😎
I agree with your opinion...
Thank you @littlebee4
You are welcome 😉
Wow so perfect you did well, so clean
Thank you so much @khairamuliani 😊 much appreciated.

Finally, I arrived to your post :))
But this will still be a long evening, more posts to check out :))
Oh, so that is the trick. I used my finger just to make the edges look softer.
And yes, I am back to the stand. So, maybe you can have a tripod if not want to invest in a gimbal?
Yes, with the brush it is easier then a finger. Some people even use cotton buds.
In art stores they sell smudge sticks to blend graphite, it’s rolled up white paper with two sides that look like pencil tip shapes. They are great too.Thank you so much for checking my post out @mipiano. 🎨
I need something to hold just my phone. Think the video setting will work, just need to find a program to edit it.
Good night, hope you have not to much work anymore. 😊
There are those phone holders with light, those selfie ring lights. I bought it for recording when I play the piano, but it is a smaller model that has a peg, it is not with a tripod. I think even that can help :)
Ok, thanks. Will search some shops soon. I never looked into this before. 😊🙏🏻
Have a great weekend @mipiano ☀️😊
you too 😇😎
Thank you 😎
Your art is trully beautiful and unique!
Had several atempts lately to draw a simple mushrooms, but I rather deleted em all. haha
Thank you so kindly @warrkin
Aaawww you did delete them, why? All creations are art. Also the effort counts and the whole process, not always the result. 😇
Have a great weekend ☀️😉
Teach me master!!
This is really amazing!
I love the final pencil version. And the second one from the edits.
I have two blocks of some thicker paper (don't ask me details, cause I don't remember, I just got whatever was in a regular shop) and I promised myself that I will be practicing.
I used once sheet. Few years ago 🙈
Thank you so much @ewkaw 😊🥰
I couldn’t choose from the edits so I posted the ones I liked the best.
I sometimes just draw on (the little bit more expensive) plain white printer paper. Especially when I want to add a lot of fine details. And then I mean a lot… It works perfectly.
If you want some guidance, or to practice, just let me know. I could create a post… have people join it and go through some steps in the comments to guide 😉
Some basic info in drawing, shading, light, materials etc.
I just have to think about it what would work best in a post/ comments kind of thing.
