October has always been a time of color, festivities and excitement for the people of Bacolod, and I, being one of them, anticipated the chance to experience it all firsthand. My recent trip to the MassKara Festival was everything I hoped it would be and more! As someone who has always wanted to help and contribute to the society, volunteering as a medic for a volleyball cup seemed to be a fitting way to kickstart the festival.
My experience kicked off with an unusual twist - volunteering as a medic for a volleyball cup. I have always wanted to lend a hand during the festival, but my experiences have always revolved around revelry. This time around, I chose to provide medical support for an exciting and exhilarating volleyball cup. As challenging as it was, the experience was truly rewarding and fun. Our team provided necessary aid and precautionary measures for the teams and the thrill of being able to do so was unparalleled. It’s interesting to experience MassKara Festival not only as a local spectator but as a volunteer in a sporting event.
Apart from that, no visit to Bacolod during the festival would be complete without feasting on the mouthwatering local dishes. Me and my friends headed to the bustling Mega World Upper East to dive into the scrumptious Bacolod delicacy - the famous Chicken Inasal. Amidst the sizzle and aroma, we had heartening conversations about life, our hopes, and the undeniable allure of the MassKara Festival.
Entertainment was around every corner - with every street radiating a different flavor of the festival. I had the chance to attend a concert at SM Bacolod, where an ensemble of Korean artists wooed the crowd with their enchanting music. The blend of their culture with ours through music was certainly a high point of the festival.
A walk down Lacson street during the festival turned into an unexpected concert night. Music filled the air, and live bands rocked the night away. After this, I made my way to Upper East to witness the remarkable Float Parade. The sight of the creatively designed floats reflecting Bacolod's vibrant culture was truly memorable.
Wrapping up the week-long celebration was my time as a standby medic at the VIVA One concert at Bacolod City Government Center. It was an honor to be a part of the health care support for this large scale event. The jubilant atmosphere, combined with the pulsating music and an electrifying crowd, made for a fitting grand finale.
Looking back at my MassKara experience, I realize that it was not just about fun and entertainment, but also a unique chance to give back to the community. MassKara festival this year was full of Surprises and unforgettable experiences for me. I wouldn't trade these memories for anything, and I cannot wait to create new ones at the next festival. Here's to celebrating life and culture in Bacolod. Here's to many more MassKara festivals to come! It gave me a richer understanding and deeper love for my culture and my city, as I walked, worked, and danced my way through the bustling festival week. Can’t wait to experience the whirlwind of MassKara again! Until next year, Bacolod!
