After days of celebration and enjoyment it is going to be a day to write about our festival. It is Important to share the world little glimpses about our culture and tradition that has been going on since long.

While many people around the world consider Diwali as the "festival of lights". For Indians, it is the day when Lord Rama, wife Sita and brother Laxman returns from exile to their home, Ayodhya. Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. It is said that to celebrate his returns the people of Ayodhya, decorated their home and the kingdom with lamps, flower for a grand welcome of their lord. The trend is still careying on with lighting and decoration by the Indians.

So apart from what it appears to be there are alwsys a reason for such celebration.
Diwali is celebrated as a victory of good over evil. This festival is celebrated in the joy of this victory and as a hope that the good will always win over evil. It is observed in the Kartik month of the Hindu calendar.
Rama symbolises goodness while Ravana has been associated with evils / demons.

Not many of you know that actually the Diwali is a 5 days of festivals. It includes all tye preparation before and after the main festival. The 5 days begins on 2 days prior of the main festival. Here is how it has been divided
Day 1: The festival mood begins on Dhanteras. On this day homes, shops offices were cleaned, new clothes and utensils are bought. You might have seen my Dhanteras purchases.
Day 2: The second day, mark Naraka Chaturdashi also known as Choti Diwali. This marks Lord Krishna's victory over demon Narakasura with oil lamps.
Day 3: The main festival day. On the day of Diwali, people van be seen worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesha for wealth and prosperity. On this dsy every homes lit up with oil lamps, rangoli, and fireworks.
Day 4 & 5: The day of Diwali is followed up by Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj, honoring Lord Krishna and sibling bonds.
So Diwali is one of the longest holidays season in India. This is the perfect time for people to enjoy with family and my some special moments

Indians celebrate Diwali by cleaning homes, lighting earthen oil lamps and decorating their houses with flowers and colourful Rangoli of different colours and sizes. Rangoli has been the major attraction at every home. The amount of effort put in by the family members in its preparation id appreciable. These are the designs and shapes made up of with the help of Dry organic powder.

Such piece of art always amazes me. It is not simple one and require food amount of focus and dedication. The other major attraction on the day of Diwali is Firecrackers. All sorts of crackers were available in the market. It is upto people to make their purchases as per their need. My nephew brought home a lot of them, to enjoy.

This is the only time when people can enjoh the fireworks by themselves. Being a festival time, nobody objects for the misuses or noises created by them. However, such Firecrackers are banned at many places because of the high risk of air pollution. This festival happens to be boon for the food lovers as eveey household comes up with some nice food cooked at home. Mine was this last night. Not sure how many of you identify the delicies.

Diwali also know as Deepavali has many things in store other than just a festival of lights. It begins with cleaning and decorating of the houses moves to exchanging gifts and aweets with neighbours and families, then worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha and rhen illuminating homes and surrpunding with different colourful lights.*
Diwali is not only time of illuminating lights and Firecrackers. It is the time to celebrate the festival with utmost joy and happiness. It is a symbol of good over evil and promotes unity and brotherhood.

I did know about Diwali festival from film series. And I always knew that it had a deeper meaning for Indians. So, I'm happy to read this and know more about what Diwali is all about.
Films and TV series make something more glamorous than actual...reel life is differrnt that real.life...so experiencing these from.real life prospective has a differrnt say.
