Let’s talk Tolerance

Greetings fellow Earthlings!

May this post find you in good times and good health.

I thought I would share with you my Tip of the Day.

Newton’s 3rd law states: For every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Consider this with everything you consume. This can be applied to food, supplements, social media, and many others, but today we will talk about tolerance breaks with Cannabis.

One could certainly argue that cannabis is not addictive, however we should expand our definition of addiction to include anything habit forming. Addiction does not have to include a negative connotation, but it should be respected for what it is. Once we do this we can apply moderation practices, and from time to time, schedule time to abstain.

When we consume cannabis, we are interacting with the plant through our endocannabinoid system. This system has receptors that bind with cannabinoids we consume, that make us feel the way we feel when we get “high”. For a lot of people who partake in getting high every day, the experience, while very much enjoyable, is dull in contrast to ones first time getting high. This is because, over time, the more cannabinoids we consume, the more we “bludgeon” our endocannabinoid system. This counter effect can be supercharged when consuming concentrates like dabs / hash / rosin.

Fear not my fellow flower (and concentrate) enthusiasts, there is a very simple solution to this potency bottleneck you’re facing. Take a break. Thats it, break the pattern. If youre a daily smoker, one day off will be noticeable, however 3 or more is where the magic happens. Especially if you’ve never taken a tolerance break, I would suggest a week minimum, as one day will not be enough to bring you back to the first few times you got high and fell in love with Mary. However, if you start incorporating breaks as a practice into your consumption routine, 1-3 days is plenty to keep your endocannabinoid system from being oversaturated. I promise you, this will only help you appreciate all of the subtle nuances and intricacies this beautiful flower has to offer, and as a bonus, you will not need as much to get lifted, which will also save you some money (or just make your weed last longer if you grow your own).

When incorporating tolerance breaks, the high is better and clearer, the flavours and aromas are stronger and richer, you’ll also be practicing self discipline as well, which is the key to getting ahead in life. I would suggest everybody takes a break here and there, not just from weed, but from social media, news, and certainly anything that may fall into the habitual category.

Thanks for reading. Stay united and lighted.

Probably the extra benefit in taking breaks that you’d be less likely to cross the line where it has the opposite effects and little benefits anymore.

i.e. my TCM friend advising that all herbs have benefit… until a point, which when passed, have detrimental effects. Perhaps such as I used to smoke & chill, until passed that point and it just tweaks me into anxiety. Wonder if it woulda been different had taken regular breaks as you discuss here.

I imagine a lot of the negative side effects would present after an over saturation of the endocannabinoid system, however everyone’s chemistry is different and ever changing
